    More early predictions

    North Dakota State W Should be an easy win
    Iowa W They can't beat us at home
    @Kent State W It's Kent State
    Army W It's Army
    Kansas State (in KC) L Could go either way, but KSU will have more fans
    @Kansas L No
    Baylor W Could go either way
    @Nebraska L We can't win in Lincoln
    @Texas A&M L No
    Oklahoma State L No
    Colorado W Should win
    @Missouri L They won't be good w/o Daniel & Maclin but can't
    see us winning

    So I wouldn't be surprised if we go 6-6 and go bowling with our easiest schedule in years. The Iowa game is key, if we start 4-0 I think we'll be able to win a couple conference games.

    If ISU starts 4-0, will Gameday come to the Baylor game????

    That's what I really want to know.

    KC is 3 hours from Ames and 3 hours from Manhattan. Our fans always seem to travel really good. I think it will be 50/50, but if not I think we will have more fans.

    Not to be a "Debbie Downer", but North Dakota State will actually be pretty tough....they're a decent team (we should win, but I think it'll be closer than many think).

    And, we did lose to Kent State just two years ago.

    I somewhat agree with your non conference, however, I do want to put out that we lost to Kent State in Jack Trice after the last coaching change. I don't think that Kent St, Army, or NDSU will be able to hang for long with ISU. Army might give us the most fits, but I don't think they will be able to score enough points on the ground to keep up with ISU's offense.

    Iowa will be a tough game, but if any hawk fan thinks they can just waltz into Jack Trice and come out victorious, he obviously has been in under a rock for 10 years. A 4-0 start is not out of the question. If we finish the non conference 2-2, we will likely be looking at another long season.

    I disagree with some of your predictions in conference play. First, I doubt that KSU will have that many more fans in KC. ISU has a larger fan base that has traditionally traveled well to KC. I also disagree with the loss. I think that the KSU game is our best shot at a conference win since they will likely be the worst team in the Big12 this season.

    I'm with you on Kansas and Nebraska, no way we win those. There is no way the Baylor game is a lop sided as it was last year. I think that could be a very close game, however, I think we will win.

    A&M and Missouri will be our best shots at conferenc road wins. A&M was playing better as last season wore on, however, I don't think they will be that much better than us this season. It is hard to win in college station, but we have done it before. I'm starting to think that maybe we have a better shot a Missouri than I originally thought. Missouri has lost a ton of talent, and coaches, this season. I think Missouri may have a hard time getting back into a bowl game this season.

    OkSt will be a closer game than some think. I predict this will be like the Kansas game of last year. I hope we can pull out a win, but I'm not holding my breath. Let's hope for a cold day

    Colorado is probably the toughest to predict. If you look at what they did last season, you would say that there is no way they make it anywhere in the Big12, yet they were only 1 win away from a bowl. There offense was pitiful. What kept Colorado in games was the defense, which took some hits over the off season. I think they will again get to a bowl game in 09, but I don't think they are that much better than ISU.

    A lot will depend if this staff can manage games better than the last one.

    Hard to believe they could do a worse job of managing a game than Chizik's staff.

    Manhattan is 1.5 hrs from KC, but I still think fan support will be pretty even. All the Clones from Des Moines, KC, etc will be there. Neither school is all that far away...

    Re: More early predictions

    NDSU...W...should be a win. My biggest concern is that it will be our first game with new schemes and not much time will be spent on NDSU so they could surprise us and keep it closer than we like

    Iowa...L...will be a close game. I wish it was the third game of the season so that the kids have another game under their belt, especially against DI talent. It will be Iowa's first trip to Jack with a QB that should be ready to play since 2003, and their defense is going to be pretty good.

    KSU...W...should not be a close game. Kent State was terrible last year and lost Endelman.

    Army...W...seriously. It's army. It's a great scheduling job by Pollard because you get some exposure by playing an academy, but they are not good at football. They'd kill us in a paintball tournament.

    KSU...W...KSU was a poor football team last year and lost their only player. Defensively they are slow. Snyder did hire some decent assistant coaches so their coaching will be better, but they just don't have the players to win in the Big 12 this year.

    Kansas...L...Mangino is a very good coach and Kansas has recruited too much talent for ISU to win this one.

    Baylor...W..Baylor still isn't there yet as a legitimate team. They're getting better which isn't good for us long term, but I think the road game will be too much for them this year.

    Nebraska...L..I'm still not convinced they have a QB, but they have enough talent on that team to beat ISU. I'm not a Pelini fan, but he has Nebraska back on track to be the team to beat in the north.

    aTm...L..So much talent in the skill positions at aTm will make it tough for ISU to stop aTm. Can we outscore them? Maybe. Will be a close one. I don't think aTm has a coach yet that scares anyone in conference, but their talent advantage will make up for it.

    OSU...L..Too much talent sprinkled throughout their roster right now. If we catch them on a day where it's cold and windy, we could upset them

    Colorado...W..This might be the game that makes or breaks both team's seasons. Colorado needs to threaten for a title this year or they may be looking for a new coach. We'll need this win to go bowling.

    Missouri...L..They lost a ton, but they've got kids on the team that know how to win and have recruited alot of talent. If this game was at home and we show growth throughout the season, this one might be had...but it's on the road.

    It's hard not to find six wins on the schedule any way you look at it. Iowa could be a win. A&M could be a win. If a 'supposed' coaching upgrade happened when comparing the totality of the two staffs this offseason, we must have six wins this year with five being a number that allows fans to keep the faith. ISU is poised to have a good year and 2010 would be the season to really make the break if it weren't for the shift back to the tougher south schedule. It certainly will be an interesting year with all of the switches. The biggest problem ISU faces is that there isn't much room for error. Another 3-4 win year this year could make it very, very tough financially (and recruiting wise) for ISU.

    Is it August yet?

    There was a lot of **** about that last year, but ESPN *did* contact ISU about the possibility of coming to Ames had KU and ISU both been 4-0. There was nothing set in stone, but there was contact about Ames being a potential host site for that weekend. I am 100% sure of this.

    Sure, but I really expect they won't come until the Mizzou game when we are 11-0.
