    Congrats to Jordan Dykstra

I know there was another in game thread, but I figured I'd post this one for after the game:
Jordan Dykstra had 21 points (9-11 shooting, 1-1 from three, 2-2 from the line.)
He had 17 rebounds, 6 blocks, 2 steals, and 4 assists, though he should have had more but his guards missed several bunnies. He has great, great court vision, and made a ton of great passes, from open-court, to passing out of the double. He has shooting range out to three, and scored quite a bit inside on some nice post moves, including a little leaning away jumper, just like Craig's. (In all fairness, it was against a really short team, but he still showed range.) He ball handled well in the open court, and had a couple steals where he took it away from the point guard. He hedged well, and overall was really impressive on the defensive end, especially since he was matched up on a guard most of the time on defense, and just plain out-quicked him. The one thing he needs to work on is his strength...he's a rail out there.

You might want to correct your post to list his points he had. Yours says 2.

Did you really see nice post moves? Because I didn't. I thought he had a really good, high percentage jumper but I didn't see many post moves. I rarely even saw him in the post. He plays like 3, IMO.

He had a couple...but he didn't play inside a ton, he did have a bunch of those turn around jumpers from the block, kind of a post move.

He's a great passer too. Nice stroke, and he did have a couple nice moves down low.

He had some nice passes around the basket. The pass I don't like is his down court rainbow outlet pass. That might work in HS but that will be picked off evertime in the BigXII.

I was impressed with his passing too, is he still growing?

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

    Wow! that was impressive

Dykstra= Jackson Vroman and Ryan Bowen morphed into one player. Can run like a deer with never ending motor like Jackson, and controlled hyper energentic play like Bowen. A awesome passer too. All the usual suspects who scoff and condesend about him look to be wrong.

Listen, I hope this kid comes in and is Larry Bird, Jr. at ISU. But, let's wait until he straps it on against KU, UT, et al until we proclaim his greatness. Playing Iowa Mennonite (or whoever is in the 1A class) is a little different than playing KU (or any other Big 12 team). What I will really laugh at is the threads claiming no one had high expectations for him if he comes in and struggles at ISU.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

i dont know what ur talking about but after

seeing his game i certainly have fairly high expectations for him. Looks like to me he just needs to add some bulk. I would also add another player he reminds me of.. Adam Morris from Gonzaga a few yrs ago.

But can't we say that about anyone. All we can compare them to is who they play against. There is no doubt that he will have to get better, but he looked good yesterday. Stay positive, we are getting some good players.

Thanks, we really needed another thread. Heading off to start a next DC thread for football.

He looks like he has a good mid range jumper. That shot is underutilized, imo. I like his passing and energy, as well.

He made some great outlet passes and he was more coordinated than I expected. Hopefully he still will grow another 2 or 3 inces.
