Boozer might still be a three, Wes could maybe redshirt (not saying its happening) but he defiently needs to bulk up. So that leaves Colvin, Buck, DG, Scott, and Lucca, if that situation happens.

There is no such thing. The backcourt has a long ways to go if this team wants to win 20 games.

That's a good thing. We can pick the best players, and still have a deep bench.

A year ago during his radio call-in show, Mac said that he prefers to divvy up the 13 scholarships this way:

    8 guards (1-2-3)
    5 posts (4-5)

Mac said that the 2 and 3 positions are the same, just on opposite sides of the court. I took that to mean that he plays a three-guard offense. Hence, 60 percent of the players on the court are guards (theoretically), representing 7.8 scholarships of the 13 available.

Yep, that gives you the opportunity to play a three guard line up.

It doesn't seem very likely that buckley's ever going to start at PG, with DG/Colvin there for the next few years

Wouldn't mind seeing him at the 2. He has the ability to get by a defender without a screen (DG). If he can develop his jump shot he could be our next Kantril Horton.

Of that list that leaves 1 guy proven to be a starting Big 12 guard.

    Hardly crowded to me.

I can't give you any more rep. But yes, I agree with this. And an argument could be made that we don't have anybody that has really proven themselves at the Big 12 level.

    Re: Crowded Backcourt 2009?

That list excites me. We actually have some experience coming back.

The 2 and the 3 might be similar in Greg's offense, but you still need them to give you different things on offense, like one shooter and one slasher. You also need one of them to be able to guard other teams slashers. We didn't have the ability to do either of those things. Hopefully Gilstrap and Colvin solve that problem.

DG is clearly a Big 12 guard. He needs to be more consistent, but to say he hasn't proved himself to be Big 12 capable is ridiculous.

First off you forgot Lucca on that list. DG will be the starting PG next year, whether people like it or not. I am looking forward to seeing how much he progressed over the summer, with hopefully 10-15 pounds in weight added he will be worlds better IMO.

    Yep.

Helping him more will be having some other guys who can take the ball to the rim.

True, he's capable. Other than CU who would he start over in the Big 12 though?
