    NBA to change traveling rule?

    Got this from HOOPSWORLD:

There might be some salvation for the "crab dribble" after all.

In response to increased scrutiny in recent years, the NBA is examining rewriting its traveling rules as soon as next season. It may include allowing for two steps, not one as currently written, and possibly even a provision for LeBron James' famous, or infamous, depending on your perspective, crab-dribble move.

"We're working on it," Joe Borgia, NBA's vice president of referee operations, told the ESPN.com blog Truehoop recently.

"Our traveling rule we've been discussing for a couple of years," he said. "The game has evolved. I don't think the rule has evolved since the time of Bob Cousy. But we're also going to probably share it with the NCAA and maybe FIBA, because it would be nice if we could all come up with a similar rule. A similar rule would be great for the players, the coaches, and the officials."

What? Really? I would have thought it was written to allow 4 or 5 right now.

It is bad enough they don't call it consistently. I think this move would be horrible.

Atleast then when a guy takes 5 steps they can say it's the rule. Although they could be more specific, Lebron, Kobe, CP3, Wade etc. all can take as many steps as they like, everyone else must remain stationary.

Re: NBA to change traveling rule?

This will end up just like speed limits. Give people 55 and they go 65. Give em 65 and they go 75. Give em 1 step they take 3, give em 2, they'll take 6. Some of these guys won't have to dribble from the half court line to when they take off for the dunk.

And lol on the crab dribble, what makes it a crab dribble? The way he's bouncing the ball or the fact that he takes 3 steps after he stops dribbling? I do like Rose's call though, "The crab dribble has nothing to do with the three steps he takes"

If anything I think the NBA needs to help the defense more than anything. I can't stand watching the NBA. It's all one-on-one and who can score points.

Rules will always be made to promote offense, not defense. The last thing they want is the NBA to look like Big Ten basketball.

I'd actually probably watch more NBA if teams played defense.

    3 steps, easy traveling call.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”
