Rock Gone Wild - Algona, IA

    www.rockgonewild.com

I'm blown away that Algona (population 5,000 and holding) was able to get this thing setup for this fall.

It's apparently going to be at the ABATE grounds for any of you hardcore bikers that know where that is.

I've actually heard of half of these bands ... baffleing.

I've heard of 2 of those bands, but seems like a cool festival for a small town like Algona.

I have yet to figure out why they picked Freedom Park. Who the hell thought a huge concert with ridiculously high ticket prices would do well in Algona?!?!

Oh, and for the people who don't know where this stuff all is, Algona is in north central Iowa and Freedom Park is a few miles northeast of town.

    It's craziness.

Oh and I remember touring "Freedom Park" back when I was I little kid. Used to be an elk ranch and they'd give wagon tours. Rumor was the owner got busted for meth prod and dist and that's how ABATE bought the land cheap.

We'll see. I mean there's no real reason for a motorcycle rally to be sucessful in an unpopulated area in the middle of nowhere - but it seems to work for that.

Thank God it's outside. It makes it much more difficult for Great White to accidentally kill a whole bunch of people!

Yeah, he had wolves too. I think we were on a school trip or something.

I'm sure the parental release form read something like:

"School trip to see elk and wolves under resonsible adult supervision."

    Rather that the more accurate:

"Crazy old man with barely contained elk herd and ****** of wolves will be manufacturing meth up until the very moment your children step off the bus"

whatever doesn't kill you I guess

They put one of these together in a small town in Illinois back in the early 90's. Aerosmith headlined the show. The promoter said he was inspired by Jim Morrison from the doors and a naked indian guy.
