Rumor was that he was deep in the Chizzlestick doghouse. I have to believe he was more ready to play than Teran Benton was. I look for Allen Bell to have a very good senior year for the Clones.

IMO he should have played more. He did play a lot of being a 3rd stringer and did well.

Bell was and still is our best corner, including LJ. He got royally screwed last season.

a member of the team was quoted as saying "he was not chizik's boy" thinking he was referring to LJ and Benton.

    Re: Allen Bell

I will throw this out there... I was usually unimpressed with Bells cover capability and his run support.

Most times... he over played and slipped at key times. While the replacements might not have had the talent as AB .... they didn't stick out like a sore thumb on key plays. Anyhoo.. my two cents.

    Re: Allen Bell

I think Allen never really got a chance to establish himself before he got put in "the dog house"

    Re: Allen Bell

After he blew the UNLV game he never really got a chance. I think he would have been better than Hunley. Is there really that much difference between safety and corner??? I felt like Chizik did a poor job of "talent management" sometimes. I would think that LJ, Benton, Smith, Banks, and Bell were all better than Hunley, yet he continued to start and play...

IRRC, Bell is very quick. My memory of his play always goes back to the interception against OU in '07. They had a hard time bringing him down!

    Re: Allen Bell

In my opinion I could have done better than most of our d-backs last year.

I get sick of good players being put in the dog house and not givin a chance to play when they are better. I don't know if Bell was better or not.

    Re: Allen Bell

He was in the dog house, unless he somehow got significantly worse between his Soph and Jr years.

He was a better cover CB his soph year than any of our CBs were last year when he was riding the pine.

His Sophomore year... unless he just got much worse between seasons, which I suppose is possible. Our CB play with Bell and Singleton Chiz's 1st year was significantly better than our CB play last year.

    Re: Allen Bell

I have a feeling PR clean the slate, assess the talent available, and play the best defensive backfield he can assemble. So, regardless of Bells doghouse status under the Chiz, he will have the opportuntity to earn his way onto the field this year.
