    Davidson

Davidson lost in the semifinals of their conference tourney today. They looked like a lock for the tourney until Curry got hurt. Now they're 26-7 with an rpi near 70. Could they still sneak in as an at large?

    Re: Davidson

They have a tourny track record thanks to last year's run, so that should help them.

My logic and the committee's logic aren't always the same thing. I like letting in the mid-majors, and they most often seem to like letting in the majors.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

67 rpi, 176 sos, semi-finals of conf. tourney.
Not a tourney team, and they do not pass the eye test.

    Re: Davidson

Curry is another example of why it's not always best to return to college, especially if you are someone that scouts haven't seen a whole lot of yet. Curry would have been a top 10 pick after last season, and will probably miss out on the lottery after this season. Joakim Noah is another prominent example I can think of. The Gators' unexpected tournament run led scouts to thinking he was a top 5 pick in the 2006 draft. A year later, he barely cracked the top 10 and is currently making little splash in the league.

... the list goes on ...

Hansbrough could have been a top 20 pick two years ago and will have to put up a fight to get into the first round this year. Dominic James would have been a late first rounder a couple off-seasons ago, and might go undrafted after this season. Darren Collison would have been a borderline lottery pick after last season, and will be a late first-rounder after this season. Robert Vaden could have snuck into the 1st round after last season; he definitely won't be there after this season. Danny Green and Curtis Jerrells are probably in that same boat. Pat Patterson might have snuck into the lottery after last season but will probably be a last first-rounder after this season.

He's 68 years old. No way Pretty Boy would go in the first round.

ah, the infamous eye test. That is almost always fool proof.

Hansbrough not a relatively early 1st round pick? What are you smoking?

    Re: Davidson

I think Curry is a borderline 2nd round pick at best right now. Teams are still concerned that he's too small, and now he has durability questions.

Hind sight is always 20/20. We could be saying this very thing next year if Brackins gets hurt. "He would have been a sure fire top twenty pick but now that he's hurt, he'll be lucky to make the top twenty of the second round." This is a little exaggerated, but it could happen.

If you are on the selection committee who would you select ... Creighton or Davidson?

I think Illinois St, maybe Creighton gets in before Davidson at this point.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
