    Texas Cutting Football? (actually semi-serious)

    statesman.com

UT Pres says in 10 years, they'd actually have to look at something like cutting athletics programs, including football.

my guess is donors would step up big time before they would let that happen.

This doesn't sound like a real serious threat. Maybe an attempt to get their attention with an incredible worst-case scenario, but they wouldn't cut anything.

Would the republic of Texas cease to exist without football??... I think it would.

How could they cut the program that actually makes the money... Yes I'm too lazy to read the article.

That's funnier than you think, because the article is about 5 paragraphs long.

Their president is claiming that their classrooms are overflowing because of the requirement that they admit the top 10% of each high school class (that chooses to attend the school). They claim that the requirement is limiting their ability to attract other higher-quality students, such as out-of-state and foreign students, and is taking room away from others, such as athletes, that frequently aren't in that 10%.

He says that some sort of change will be needed because they are running out of classroom facilities for all of these people.
