Mens Basketball reaching the NCAA basketball tourney, or the football team making a bowl game?

It all depends on Brackins. If he comes back, the team has a pretty good chance at making it.

if brackins stays it probably a toss up. Both sports need to tie up loose ends, if it were to say NIT or a bowl game, NIT most defiently. I hope for both things to happen.

Re: Who has a better chance to succeed next year?

I think if everything plays out in our favor and Both Brackins and Gilstrap are playing for ISU next year, coupled with another year of experience for the rest of the team, it is more likely we will make the NCAA then a bowl game.

If brackins goes pro, gilstrap doesnt make it, or some other unexpected thing happens to the bball team, a bowl game is more likely.

Bowl game. More available talent. Less variables.

Had you said NIT and not NCAA I would be inclined to choose NIT.

so if craig comes back next year you think we'll be a top 35 team in the nation to get to the tourney, Im not so sure about that.

Uh, you don't need to be a top 35 team to make the tourney.

If we have Brackins and Gilstrap, I say basketball. Football is such a wildcard though, you only need to be .500.

Re: Who has a better chance to succeed next year?

Football... first off, you can be extremely mediocre in FB and make a bowl, while you have to be pretty dang good in BB to make the NCAA's from the Big 12 conference.

Actually, I kind of expect a bowl game next year in FB. If Brackins returns I expect the NCAAs in basketball, but I am working under the assumption now that he will be in the NBA next year.

Football. We have a new coach so there is HOPE.

It really doesn't matter if Brackins comes back or not, GMAC is coming back.

If we have Brackins and Gilstrap and both play well, then basketball.

Next year I think it is more likely for football, next year for basketball I am hoping NIT and then in two years a possible tourney bid

Re: Who has a better chance to succeed next year?

Football is a long shot for a bowl game... and it is much closer than basketball will ever be for the NCAA
