    Maybe Hilton Magic isn't dead?

Let me start with a disclaimer that this is not a bash on McD. I think he's a great guy and that he will turn this program around the right way.

    Anyway...

We haven't won a road conference game since about 1953, right? So MAYBE it's not that Hilton Magic is dead. Maybe our team is much worse than a lot of us think. Maybe Colorado is a better team than us, but Hilton Magic helped us win the game?

It sounded right in my head, but I don't know if I'm explaining my point well enough. I guess what I'm saying is that we don't really know if it's dead until we start winning some road games to compare how good we actually are.

I wouldn't expect us to beat North Carolina in The Hilt, but that doesn't mean the Magic ain't there.

Sorry. The more the I read this, the less it makes sense. I thought I had a good idea, but it's not translating particularly well to when I type it...

The magic is still there. It just seems to hang out in the visitors locker room more than it use to.

I like what you are saying. Just not sure if it's true or not. Good try though.

    Nope, its gone.

Hilton Magic is in retirement and cannot make the trip to Ames as much anymore.

Re: Maybe Hilton Magic isn't dead?

Hilton Magic is a two-part concept requiring both parts to be successful. The first part being fans and the second being a team that can respond well to the team. The fans are there, but the teams isn't exactly doing it's part.

It's impossible for this team to be worse than I think they are.

Later that year against T. Tech it was very loud. Assuming that was the same year.

I remember that. UV was in the top 25 and we barely pulled that one out. The kick in the nuts that year was the UV ended up being around .500 when the season ended.

So now winning a handful of games in front of half capacity crowds constitutes as Hilton Magic? I think under these rules, Carver Magic is making a nice appearance this year.

I know positive thoughts are hard to come by in the athletic world this season - for both fanbases - but come on. Hold on to your traditions and don't insult them by calling them what they're not. ISU has won more at home because it's a friendly environment and they're a young team who struggles on the road.

Agreed, we are lucky to have such good fans for basketball, mens and womens. The magic still lives with the Cyclone Women.

I would agree with this. Dating back to the Wisconsin game, they've been the liveliest crowds at Carver in 3 years.

This was the essence of Hilton Magic even when the Clones were good. Thats why it was a great home court advantage. I'm sure it'll get to that point again.

So what happens when CHA stops providing the free pizza and $10 or less tickets?

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Welp, I'm assuming that'll mean that the team is winning, and that fans are willing to pay the money.

And I'm sure that'll happen at about the same time they start charging full price for the upper deck cheap-seats at Hilton, too.
