    PC cards...

My work PC had PCMCIA slots on it. I have a verizon broadband card for my work PC. I thought it would be cool to be able to use that card on my home laptop and I just bought. I installed the software and then tried to put the card in the slot but it wouldn't fit. I later learned that my new laptop is equiped with an ExpressCard 54 slot and the old PC card slots. WTF! Why change that now. Or, if you are going to change it, why not make it work with both??? Very irritating.

    Re: PC cards...

Because that's how PC vendors get you to buy new stuff every few years...

Same way if you use a lot of PCI cards. Not many PCs have more than 1 PCI slot these days...

Can you get the broadband card that goes into one of your USB ports?

Yes. But my company bought mine and the PC Card type is what they bought.
