He is a great coach, I hope I see him on the sidelines for many years come

Wow I think the footage from his first game here compared to now really says alot about how far that program has come. I thought the first one was a practice at first there were so many empty seats.

Man, I love that guy! Good piece by KCCI too. It will be really cool if his son rises to his dad's level and carries on the Fennelly ties with ISU for years to come.

i remember my freshman year at ISU in '97, you could go to the game at tipoff, walk down and sit in front. Few years later you needed tickets.

Re: Bill Fennelly through the years

I suppose they will wait to do a highlight video of the years (so far) Coach F has been here. I remember going to games when Jaimie and Janell were juniors and have been to many, many games since. I would love to see all the years that Coach has been here in a highlight video. How about "The last 50 years of Iowa State women's basketball"? Then they could concentrate on the last 15 years.

Should it perhaps be the "past" or "First" 50 years? I'd hate to think it's almost over.

Good point. Poorly worded by me.

A good video. Its hard to believe how few people used to attend women's games.

Re: Bill Fennelly through the years

When I saw the video of Fennely yelling at his players, I wondered how Wesley Johnson would have taken that kind of intensity.

    you're welcome

the change in game attendance is staggering...

I too was surprised how intense he was at practice...

Is it common for guys to practice as the scout team in women's basketball?

Yes it is. Here's an article from a couple years ago when they were thinking about banning it. LINK

In the video - you heard some of the girls speaking to his 'intensity', which is about as nice as they can say it. I've been sitting within 25 feet of BF for 11 years, and as much as I respect and appreciate his program, he would be difficult to play for.

I've heard dozens of women(moms) around us gasp at some of the things BF says to those fine young women.
