    Free Agency

This has already been an exciting football day; Bart Scott to the Jets, Kellen Winslow to the Bucs, Albert Haynesworth to the Redskins, DeAngelo Hall getting another crazy contract. What are some other moves you expect to see? Does that mean the Ravens will have to over pay Ray Lewis to keep him?

    Re: Free Agency

Word is that the Bucs traded a 2nd (09) and a 5th (2010) for Winslow. Bad move in my mind, he is immature, selfish, and his knee is completely shot due to his own stupid actions off the field. I was reading last season that he was advised to retire by a doctor becasue of the knee. Don't know if its true but he has has a significant amount of work and staph infections in the knee.

That and the Haynesworth deal is too much for a guy who is know to take plays off, has a history of poor behavior, has never played a full season, and his best two seasons were both contract years. Somthing tells me now that he has his vast amouts of coinage (32 mil in the first 13 months) he is going to mail in the effort on Sundays.

    Re: Free Agency

Note how the "good" teams will be quiet these first few weeks of Free Agency. Develop your own talent, fill a few holes with veteran help. That's how you win Super Bowls. Or at least the past 8 or so...

    Re: Free Agency

I think the trade is fine as long as they don't give him a huge contract. I think that Lewis is done in Balt. I think the Redskins are just throwing money away with those 2 deals. Im going to be interested in seeing if Peppers ends up getting traded.

    Re: Free Agency

Could Lewis end up a Patriot? They seem to like picking up the aging veterans to help them make their runs into the postseason.

Chiefs traded for Vrabel. Not a bad move I guess...

    Re: Free Agency

I like that move for both. The Chiefs get a veteran of the 3-4 and the Pats another draft pick

    Re: Free Agency

Lets see Vrabel, now they need to get T.J. Houshmandzadeh {WR}, Warner {QB} to mentor Thigpen, Owen Daniels {TE}, Bertrand Berry {DL}, Get the rest from the draft:

    3rd OLB - Aaron Curry
    34 ILB - James Laurinaitis

    Re: Free Agency

Per the Packer website I peruse, my favorite team is pursuing Chris Canty, the 3-4 defensive end from the Cowboys. If true, this marks a new direction for Trade-Down Ted Thompson, who generally signs one or two mid to low-level free agents and otherwise concentrates on re-signing his own. Lord knows he has the cap-space to sign a couple guys who'd help in Dom Capers' new defensive allignment!
