    Online MBA anyone?

Has anybody out there done a MBA distance ed? I'm thinking about starting one in January (still need the GMAT). I'd like to find one where campus trips are minimal. I work in Cedar Falls but a couple people I work with started one at UNI said it's not very non-traditional student friendly. I mainly want to do it all from home if I can. Anybody else done this route? If you did, where did you go through?

Upper Iowa University... Upper Iowa University: affordable, scholarships, financial aid, accelerated degree programs

I work there and graduated from there and will be starting the program later this year.

I believe you can do it all online.

    Re: Online MBA anyone?

Most online programs for a masters degree - you are buying your piece of paper and not getting an MBA. Businesses don't look at an online degree as favorable.

Any hiring manager or CEO with a masters degree from an accredited school will not look at it with any worth.

Plus - they are not accredited - see here AACSB International Home Page

    Re: Online MBA anyone?

The two options I've been given at work are Iowa State and Penn State. Both online. Iowa State requires a commitment of every Saturday for the duration of the program, Penn State requires visits to campus once a year.

Penn State would be a good addition to the resume. Plus, how do I give up Saturdays?

Can a good Gmat score usually make up for crappy grades and a crappy transcript? By crappy I mean 2.25gpa.

Depends on what school, how long you have been out of school and what experience you have gained, etc.

Usually they look at the entire package you have to turn in to make a decision - Grades, letters of rec., work experience and your reasoning for wanting to go to grad. school.

I was talking about U of Phoenix. Plus, ask around.... I did before I entered the MBA program. Many well known CEOs and business owners told me that they do not put stock into online degrees.

Iowa State does night classes during the week too... They were planning on canceling the Saturday program. Their core classes during the week are in capitol square.

Actually, I work in the field. And this sort of thinking is really not as common as you think. It's the way of the future. Do these CEOs you talked to still send things by Pony Express?

Only people in South Dakota send things by pony express.

We live in Des Moines where there are 3 programs that are great programs - not online - ISU, Drake and Iowa. Both work for part time students, full time workers.

I work for a University too, so let's not get into a ******* contest.
