Not sure if this is a good move on ISU's part

As posted below, the 2009 coaching clinic is April 10 and 11 and if I am looking at my calendar correctly, that is Easter weekend. That means the keynote speakers will be speaking during most churchs' Good Friday services. It is also a weekend where more people than normal will be travelling.
Not sure that this is going to effect the attendance that much, but it certainly isn't going to help it.
I know I won't be able to make it there for the first time in my coaching career and I was very much looking forward to it

That is unfortunate. I imagine you're not the only one who will have conflicting schedules. I would guess they knew and wonder if it had anything to do with the availability of Coach Majors.

IIRC, Majors just spoke at it 2 years ago.

Unfortunately my wife will be 8 months and 2 weeks pregnant with our third daughter, so I was informed that I'm not going this year.

When my oldest daughter was a couple weeks old I went to the clinic, got drunk, and spent the night at the hotel.
My wife hasn't taken too kindly to me going to the clinic since then.
I guess that's what happens when kegs and pizza come out at 10 pm/

The old staff had the clinic date set for Easter Weekend, so it was left there for this year.

Heard Coach Rhodes at Ft. Dodge and it was awesome, some really great stuff in a short amount of time. He also referenced the dates of the clinic and didn't appear to be happy about it... If I could I would be there.

Walking on water is easy. Just do it in December when it's frozen.

In Chizik's first spring, I closed down Cy's Roost with Raney, Koonz, and a couple GA's. Had an absolute blast and at that point, no one knew who they were.
Talked about everything with those guys that night. Koonz came across as very immature. Raney was one cool cat. Haven't heard what happened to him, but I hope he lands on his feet.
The clinic is great for learning X's and O's, but the social aspect of it and being able to hang out with ISU coaches is a lot of fun for the Cyclone Fans like myself, and I can tell Besserheimerphat and ISUfan22 enjoy it as well.

Re: Not sure if this is a good move on ISU's part

Talking with McFarland about oline play last year was pretty humbling. Dude knows his blocking techinques. It's great to get a chance for some one-on-one with guys like that, even as a junior high coach. As a Cyclone fan, it's also great getting to know the guys a bit on a personal level. I wish I could make it this year. I heard from another high school coach at the clinic that there's an awesome Nike coaching clinic in Chicago every year that features guys like Pete Carrol, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, etc. It's great that these guys give some time to swap ideas with all the "little guys" who just have a passion for teaching football.
