With that kind of size in Iowa HS ball its not surprising though. Still nice, but not amazing.

Why bother with this Barnes fellow when we should just bank on little McDermott to save the program.

I've watched Ames play a couple of times. I really enjoy watching Doug. He's an extremely smart player that tends to be in the right place at the right time, whether it's to get a rebound or block a shot. I would like to see him in a Cyclone uniform in the future, hopefully as a walk-on.

It's good that Coach McD will only miss his son's first round game at state. He will DEFINITELY be back to see the rest of his games.

I could see that unless, he grows an inch or two more...then Dad would probably put the full court press on. Sidenote: Nick McDermott transferred to ISU after being at UNI for a semester.

Re: McDermott article (DSM Register - 2/24/09)

Growing up we were very good family friends with the Krugers. My brother and Kevin were close in age as were Angie and I. One of the most interesting things was just how much a couple of the assistants were involved in their lives. Shep was everywhere and often the primary babysitter, always at little league games and even drove the kids around alot...
