    Apathy?

Is apathy setting in with the Men's BBall program? I feel like right now if I miss a game on TV it is no big deal. My family has not been to a single game this year.

I feel like there are fewer posts on each game, fewer threads and fewer posters. 12,000 is a great crowd at Hilton? What was the attendance during previous recessions?

I think Pollard has done a good job overall, I think his main mistake has been how he handled MBB. At least he has come out and said no contract extension for McD. This tells me that he is concerned about the direction of the program.

    Re: Apathy?

Apathy would be a good way to describe my feelings about MBB at this point.

I didn't realize Pollard has talked about extending or not extending McD's deal.

    Re: Apathy?

I have season tickets and have been to 2 games this year (last one-Nebraska). I missed early because of conflicts but lately because I won't waste 6 hours of my life. I went to my first HS girls game of my life last night instead of watching the game on TV. I've had season tickets for about 10 years now.

PS - I'm not happy about it and will get tickets again next year if CB is back. If not, I have paint to watch dry.

    Re: Apathy?

I know this gets old, but if folks can hang in there through this down period, I truly believe they will be rewarded big time. We have the right man running our program. Right now, I'll take a little apathy over mobs of fans storming the Jacobson Building with torches and pitch forks. By the way, if you think we're experiencing apathy, take a closer look at what other universities (with better records than us) are experiencing right now.

Brighter days are ahead my friends. Unfortunately, it won't be this season.

Lets see. you go to the games, ISU wins. You stay at home, ISU loses.

I think I found the Source of ISU's Poor Performace.

Ditto. If CB is back I will be a proud season ticket holder again after taking a year off. If not, I will continue to acquire <$5 tickets when it works into my schedule to attend a game.

This actually tells me he doesnt want to get locked into another buy out should things not work out. Im sure he worries about the product, but financially he is more concerned. I think Chizik really screwed the pooch for us for a bit.

oh comeon. that's not fair an you know it.

No fan has ever penned a single one of these recruits or called a single play for ISU in the last 3 seasons. They have never made a single halftime adjustment or starting lineup change either. There's 1 guy that's in charge of that.

At the root of fandom is entertainment. Tell me what part of getting their *** handed to them for 3 seasons is entertaining. Granted there are a few of us that will buy tickets and support ISU no matter what, way too many actually. ISU has somehow bred loyalty through losing.

I'll be there til the end. Honestly, if I stop watching the clones I'll stop watching college sports. But I have no qualms with complaining fans when there is something legitimate to complain about - they pay the bills. And no one can deny there are things to complain about.

    Re: Apathy?

The problem is that ISUMBB is a winter sport, and you have no alternative for recreation, leisure, or entertainment. You can't paint the house, rake the leaves, play golf, go jogging, boating, etc.. You have a crappy team and crappy weather; add them together and you get a very long, dreary winter.

I totally read that different the first time. Dysleksia (sp?) or something.

I stand by the thought in my post in general, but yeah sorry about jumping on that particular post.

    Re: Apathy?

Apathy during the season is NOT a problem as far as Im concerned. When we lose this season I dont really care. I know what our team is up against athletically. We are not close. So getting ****** at the guys on the team that play their assess off is kinda stupid.

winning 13-16 games doesnt really make a difference in my mind I guess.

I dont think you can improve a basketball team that is totally depleted with BCS talent like ours is and expect to improve much during the season.

Ive been to every home game and they are as fun now as they were at the start of the season. Our guys play hard and that is all you can ask of them. When we get more talented players on the team, and get them to play hard we will be ok.

    I think he was kidding.

On a related note, another poster was correct in that other, more currently-successful programs are struggling big-time with attendance. The fact that
we are selling this many tickets while we struggle is a commendable thing for our fans.

I also think patience will be rewarded soon. This thing is close, but frustrating along the way. That said, I choose not to be apathetic. These Clones are my team, and I'm not willing to make the choice not to care about them and cheer for them.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

    Re: Apathy?

This is exactly what came to my mind yesterday at the end of the game. Once we got down after leading most of the way, it was kind of like the crowd just doesn't expect to win. I mean we are due for a close one to become a win for us, but I just don't think the crowd feels it will happen. Based on the recent record, it's kind of justified.

I just hope we can re-ignite the fire in the MBB program next season...get some signature wins, etc.

Ifr ity does not look any better in the next two years, McD will be history, since JP has not made any extensions to date.

Folks, it is not that hard to win 15 games at I State.

Offense puts butts in seats even if you lose (Wayne). Defense only and losing (McD) makes for a long season that feels like the proverbial death spiral. Hey, McD has two years on his contract to prove he is Big 12 capable. The last three years only proved he has to do more and better.
