    Decommit?

I heard from a pretty reliable source that Eilert decommitted and is going to UNI? Anyone know anything about this?

    Re: Decommit?

Not right away, but you'd think a 6'5 250 lb DE could turn into a pretty decent OL. That may be what they were thinking at ISU as well and he didn't like that.

    Re: Decommit?

If the 'Clones were going to turn him into an OL, why wouldn't UNI? I highly doubt that he'll even get a look at DE up in Cedar Falls.

6'5" 250 lbs. is about 50 lbs. short of ever playing OL in the Big XII.

    Re: Decommit?

Sounds to me like Chizik and company are being honest with their recruits...not just telling them what they want to hear. Gotta respect that if its the case. Like he apparently told the team, either you're on board or your not. Tell someone he'll play one spot when you have him pegged for another makes for unhappy and uncommitted players.

Hope they have backups or Plan Z for next season or it will be the pits. Think Colorado and Dan Hawkins.

Exactly, give the guy 2 years in a Big 12 weight program and he'll look like a monster.

    Re: Decommit?

    He has decommitted ...IOWA PREPS

Grinnell tight end/defensive lineman Will Eilert received a scholarship from Iowa State during the summer and it took him little time to decide he wanted to be a Cyclone. But with Coach McCarney and most of his staff no longer with Iowa State, this All Stater did not have as close of a relationship as he did with the previous coaches. And because of that, Eilert decided last night he will no longer be going to Iowa State. [details]

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

Unless it's a JUCO kid, the Guys Chizek Sign in Feb. won't Make/Break the 2007 Clones

Recruiting isn't an exact science so who knows how good Brown or Eilert will be. However, how good the 2007 Clones are depends entirely on 2 things:

    1) Improvement among players from last years team.
    2) Contributions from JUCO kids that GC signs.

It's always possible a HS kid or two could start next year, but I'd be surprised if he/they is a difference maker.
