    What happens if Brackins stays?

Since negativity is in full force lately on Cyclone Fanatic, what do people think of next year if Brackins were to stay at Iowa State?

Re: What happens if Brackins stays?

I think we take a real shot at the NCAAs. It doesn't take 9 NBA players to do it. If Gilstrap is able to provide an athletic scoring option, then we're looking to be in good shape.

    That's my first reaction.

If he improves his game, he could see some real playing time next year.

Re: What happens if Brackins stays?

NCAA tourny shot, if other player step up and take some pressure off him. He can walk out and be drafted after this year, we know that. We have been over why he should stay why he should go a 1000 times. 3
It will come down to these things IMO:
    1. Does he want to play in the NCAA tourny.
    2. Does he want to be the key that gets this program turned around
    3. Does he want to help out McD, staff, and players
    4. Does he want to be up for Big 12 player of the year, preseason player of the year, national player of the year, All American, be a lottery draft pick
    5. Does he want to be around ISU, his friends, and his team for one more go around.

I think it all depends on how happy he is at ISU and how much he likes his teammates, and how much he likes McD and staff.

He could be a decent player for us next year. Needs to improve in a lot of areas though to be an impact player.

Re: What happens if Brackins stays?

If he actually stays until his senior year (which I think is a 5% possibility) AND we get Harrison Barnes (which I think is a 25% possibility) than we would be a top 10 team and I am 100% serious when I say that. Unfortunately I don't think both will happen.

Next year we could be a bubble team if we have a go to scorer from the wing, and I think Gilstrap will be that guy

If DG can figure out how to shoot, Ham makes a few steps toward getting better, and CB stays it could be more than a bubble.

Re: What happens if Brackins stays?

I don't know if they can get to the level of Fizur's Junior year, but I think they would have the right ingredients to have a good year. If Gillstrap can be a consistent 12 to 15 pts a game, Brackins with 20, and Colvin, JVB, Lucca, DG all giving around 10 per game we could be pretty good. The defense will get better, Pomlee may help there. Ham will be much better if we look at his past progression. I think with the experience on the court we will be in the top 5 of the big 12 and win at least 1 game in the tournament. I know I will get killed on this one, but I think we will turn the corner with Brackins here next year.

Re: What happens if Brackins stays?

Realistically, we should expect a solid NIT berth.

You can't pin NCAA hopes on two new recruits. However, any postseason play (as well as some damn team improvement) should placate most.
