    What happens if Brackins leaves?

Does anyone on here really, honestly think this team is going to be any better next year if Craig leaves? If they are worse (which I think is inevitable, w/out CB), will you continue to defend Gmac because of it? Not meant to flame, but I can personally handle excuses for two years. In year 3, it's time for improvement. In year 4, it REALLY better be there. Right now, I think we will finish this year with a worse record than last. If Brackins leaves, and I think he does, I think we will finish worse next year than we do this year. That is a steady decrease for 4 straight seasons. Hilton will be emptier than Carver. Some here will keep defending it, and calling those who don't whiners, or bad fans, or what have you, but people can only stomach this so long.

What has happened to ISU basketball (for me) is like watching your best friend falling for, and getting married to a Succubus (the spell check actually recognizes Succubus!), and now he's driving a pink Mary Kay mini-van. I don't like feeling this way. I want to see Gmac win! I want ISU basketball to be a proud program that plays tough, and sometimes plays over their talent level when the big boys come to Hilton! Those teams of Orr's, Floyd's, Eustachy's, and sometimes Morgan's all had the ability to dig down, pull out their guts and beat teams that were more talented than they were. Gmac's haven't done it once in 3 years. I don't have anything against Mac except this steady decline. Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade...

Has anybody heard if we've hired a DC yet?

Re: What happens if Brackins leaves?

Then McD needs to find a new PF.

I think everyone needs to calm down. The only ones talking about him going pro are: the media, opposing coaches who don't want to play him next year, and the fans.

He is NOT good enough to cut it in the NBA, yet. He is about the same size as Tracey McGrady - but has NO ability to take anyone off the dribble. He will be back next year and possibly his senior season as he needs to get stronger and quicker before he even sniffs a court in the NBA.

Just expect him to come back and lower your blood pressue.

Re: What happens if Brackins leaves?

So as fans we're going to get ****** and take it out on GMac if Brackins decides to leave Iowa State to try to fulfill his NBA dream?

Maybe we'll be better, maybe we won't. But what we do is move on. At least we'll have Pomlee and others waiting in the wings. Maybe not as good as an option, but players leave early for the NBA all the time.

All that will happen is that it will give the McD apologists ANOTHER excuse as to why he's not succeeding here.

I think hes a couple inches taller than McGrady and he definatly weighs more than McGrady. Not saying hes ready, but hes big enough.

If Brackins leaves for the NBA after this year, the Earth will stop rotating. Life will end, and we'll all die....

People are funny. Do you think it's honestly going to feel any different if we were 1-10 or 0-11 rather than 2-9 right now?

1 inch and 7 lbs difference. Not a huge difference.

Still don't think CB is even close to being ready.

When it's year four of a coaches tenure, and we've been sliding worse and worse every year, 1-10 is going to suck. Yet, there will be those who say everything is fine, and that coach is doing a great job, and none of this is his fault.

Re: What happens if Brackins leaves?

Is there a stage below rock bottom? That's where the '09-'10 season will be played.

The good percentage of people that are saying next year is the put up or shut up year will delay those expectations until year five or later. More padding for GMac, less winning for ISU.

If he leaves, hopefully we can pick up the Dendy kid. He won't replace Brackins, others would need to step up, but they needed to do that anyways.

Re: What happens if Brackins leaves?

I think we'd be better, but not good enough enough to be remotely close to the postseason. The funny thing is that we would lose our best player again, and Gilstrap will probably be our best player next year, and then we'll likely only have him for one year as well. It would be an unbelievable run really.

I guess it he will get another "I consider this his first year" excuse.
