    Steroids in the NBA?

I was watching the highlights of the Magic game the other day and something jumped out at me... Anyone seen Hedo Turkoglu lately? Wow, that dude has gotten big...

The LPGA is a hotbed of juicers.

    Don't really care anymore.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

    Re: Steroids in the NBA?

I think there are alot more steroids in college basketball than NBA. But, I would guess something like 20% of the NBA players are using some sort of banned substance (other than Marijuana).

    Re: Steroids in the NBA?

Just legalize steriods along with all the other things that people put in their body that are illegal. If someone wants their boys to shrink why is it anyone's business than their own?

I'll tell you why, because there is way too much money in for the govt to keep everything illegal.

I'm not thrilled to admit this, but I have seen Turkoglu without his shirt on ()... and he definitely hasn't missed too many meals.

I don't know much of the effects of steroids, but I'm guessing a beer gut isn't extremely common.

    Re: Steroids in the NBA?

Steroids in any professional sport is a given. With the amount of money involved and the pressure on the players to play well there will always be a percentage that look to artificial means for physical improvment. Is problem is that the leagues are not hard enough on players who are caught. Why is MBL seemingly uninvolved in any of the hearings about setroids in baseball? The NFL is much harsher on players then any other league but there are things out there that are still undectable. Either way steroids have been in use much longer then people realize and new ones will be created as they find ways to detect the old ones.

BTW this is a good watch: Bigger, Stronger, Faster* - Available on DVD Now

How is the NFL any harsher than MLB? The NFL doesn't even test in the offseason unless you have previously failed a test and thats when most people would be using them anyways... The NFL is the biggest joke there is when it comes to PED's.

    Re: Steroids in the NBA?

I have often wondered why the NFL seems to get a pass on this stuff. Football players were using them well before baseball players were. You can't tell me that these guys can get as big, strong, fast, and resilient as they are without using something.

    Re: Steroids in the NBA?

The NFL has done random testing during the season, and has for much longer then the MLB has even admitted that they had a problem. I never said the NFL had a perfect or even good system but compared to the history of the MLBs testing "policies" they are much harsher.

MLB first policy was created in 2002 and then revised in 2005 so that it had any teeth what so ever.

The NFL has had policies in place since 1987 (beating baseball by a mere 15 years) and have suspended plaers for using masking agents as well as steriods. They even have a list of banned over the counter supplements that they distribute to players. You can't will any post season awards if you are caught using a banned substance either. That and they don't seem to need congressional help to police their employees.

The hill does not seem to have too many issues with the NFL's policy.
