    Who guards Collins?

Last time, we started out with Petey and he got destroyed. Haluska did a much better job coming off the bench. We really don't have anyone to guard him, so do we try Petey again or start Haluska? Zone? Cam Lee? I'm befuddled.

I'd start zone, but KU will shoot us out of it, or go down inside and get our bigs in trouble. I'd start Petey, and try and get Haluska or Cam Lee in there at the first media timeout and switch every timeout who is guarding Collins between the three of them so he can't get comfortable.

    Re: Who guards Collins?

I was just going to write something on this. Expect to see a lot of Haluska and Lee in this game IMO. If they play their game, we will be alright. I just don't want to see Lee or Haluska chucking up 3's.

I say we sag off him and let him shoot the 3. I know he hit everything against us, but I really don't think he is that good of a shooter. Better than him getting into the lane all day long

    Re: Who guards Collins?

I'm thinking a box and 1. Diante on Collins with help from the zone. I know that they'll get points from Morningstar but I'd prefer to let him try to beat us rather than Collins.

    Re: Who guards Collins?

With last times results I think GMAC will be quick to pull the trigger on Haluska coming in. Maybe this is the game he starts hitting threes and gets his offense going. He can fight through screens better than most players and always seems to be moving.

Don't you use Box and 1 to slow down a post player and triangle and 2 to slow down a guard?

Hopefully, but don't hold your breath.

Playing either a box and 1 or a triangle and 2 on a post wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, you would have a decent liability of essentially having 2 guys gaurding him and forcing you out of the "base" D. You typically only see these types of defenses to focus on perimiter players...whether it be 1 or 2.

Box and 1 is how teams tried to slow down Beasley last year...
