Our top running back out of this class could be......

Jeff Woody. His highlight reel is amazing. 0 fumbles in about 500+ carries is really impressive. If nothing else, I think he becomes the next Ryan Kock, although I think Jeff will turn out to be a better player for us.....which is saying something because Ryan was really good. Coach Mac used to say about Ryan if we need 2 yards he'll get you 2 and if we need 10 yards he'll get you 2. With Jeff if we need 2 he'll get us 5 and if we need 10 he might get us 50 looking at his highlights. I would consider him joining the cyclones just as big as any of our recruits. Welcome aboard Jeff and can't wait to watch you play!

I'd like to see him switch positions personally. We're young and talented at RB as it is. Of course, you can never have too many RB, or so it seems. I remember a few years ago we got hit hard by the injury bug.

James White and it isn't even close.

I imagine Woody will end up on the other side of the ball, and I don't think Beau will make a significant contribution at ISU.

You guys are funny. He is our fullback of the future at ISU if not more. Definitely not a linebacker. I admit that James White and Beau Blankenship are very impressive as well, but our backfield will be Woody at fullback, Blankenship at tailback, and White as a scat back. Woody will be very productive though.

He may be our fullback of the future which means he may see 12-15 carries a season and another 20 catches. I still think we'll see him on defense. If he does become an all-american fullback, I'll be thrilled. I just don't see that being a position that ISU will give alot of attention to.

Based on an opinion that guys like Woody end up on the defensive side of the ball, especially in spread offenses, and based on the opinion that 5'7" guys with moderate speed and not great elusiveness like Beau end up finding a tough place to contribute at a BCS school. I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Our top running back out of this class could be......

Is he as good at Jason Scales was in HS. If not dont expect much out of him. Heck the Sandvig brothers tore up HS football in Iowa and look at them now. Its a huge step from the CMIL to the Big 12.

I understand the comparisons of Sandvigs, Scales, etc., but unlike them Woody is a much stronger and physical runner which will make his transition to the Big XII alot easier.

Re: Our top running back out of this class could be......

Kind of a silly prediction. We should be very happy we got a kid of his caliber to walk on at ISU and not take a full ride at D1AA or D2. With that said I'd guess the discussion between PR's message to Woody went something like this:

You are a great player that we'd love to have at ISU, but not as a tailback. We think you can fit in somewhere because you're a helluva player, unfortunately we don't know exactly where yet so we can't offer you. We'd love to have you come, we know you'll contribute on special teams and find your spot and earn a scholly. Plus, even the walkon's get a lot of tail at this fine university where the women indiscriminantly love their football team.

Re: Our top running back out of this class could be......

sorry not going to happen. doubt youll see him more then 30 plays total. the new offense is not going to be using much of a fullback and he has too many good/great players to jump over to get there. special teams stud probably, best back in this class hardly.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.
