How will Harrison help us more....

by committing to ISU or by telling us early that he is not coming to ISU so we can recruit someone else?

I really think out of courtesy he would tell the ISU staff if he had no plans of coming here so we could stop investing time going after him. Since we have not stopped recruiting him, I would guess he has not scratched ISU off his list as of yet.

Coming here would help us more. We couldn't get a guy better than him in that class.... Pretty obvious

I am not sure if you're wording it how you mean to...

By committing to where ever. I am sure all parties involved want this to be over, so everyone can move on.

You think if he verbals now everything is going to stop? It would only get more dirty with the pitches coaches would make.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

I doubt one of his top priorities is "how can I help ISU (besides going there)"

Re: How will Harrison help us more....

This situation is another reason why ISU is so disadvantaged. The big schools can put deadlines so they can go out and get what they need. We can't afford to just set a deadline, so we get dragged along the entire time. Then if we miss out, we're in a bad position, as we won't be able to get anyone as good and we'll be behind other schools in pursuit of another recruit...

You never know, he does play with McDs son, I am sure they have talked off the record. He also has been around the ISU program a lot. If he is the person everyone says he is he may want to help ISU some even if he doesnt go there.

No one, including ISU, is going to quit recruiting him until his name is inked on someone's sheet of paper. I think when he knows in his heart where he wants to go, he will commit. I think if it wasn't ISU, McDermott would be the first to know.

I meant it the way I wrote it. From the players I have watched over the years, Harrison is arguably the best all-time from the state of Iowa. However, the Big 12 has a lot of wings like him and will by the time he gets here (ISU doesn't, but the Big 12 does).

That being said, could we possibly be better off going hard after a player like Ejim and then going after a big guy (and I am not talking about Kelm because he doesn't help us win in the Big 12)? I still think our roster is going to be too small (waaay too thin at the 4-5 positions) to compete in the Big 12 and while the talent level would be upped if Barnes were on it, does he give us the best chance of winning a Big 12 title?

clearly we want him, but we cant focus all of our energy and attention on him for the 2010 class. we could use him, but we need more players than him.

When HB commits his recruitment will be over! He isn't like most kids. I think that is obvious

Why would we recruit a guy if we would be better off if he told us he is not coming? This is a monumentally dumb question.

Do not count your chickens before they hatch. He is only a junior in high school who knows what Harrison is thinking. He might commit here and he might not, but whatever happens do not call him out and put him down on making a decision that will help his life and basketball career wherever he goes. If he chooses ISU I will be very pumped, but if he does not I will not lose sleep over it and support his decision.
