    Today's storm

So the DM area is set to get 2-4" today? Is that what most of you are forecasting.

    Re: Today's storm

It just started snowing here in Omaha about 30 min ago. Probably 1/2" on the ground right now. They are saying 4-7" here and I think most of the schools canceled school already this morning.

Cue the obligatory story on how "when I was in school they never canceled if for 7 inches of snow"......

I thought Ames was expected to get 3" - 5". The TV weather guy said the difference is if / how much it rains first.

Well if it was a weather guy, it was probably 3-5, if a weather gal, probably 2-4. Both actually the same.

    Re: Today's storm

Honestly the amount of precipitation that falls depends on how well this storm holds together. The past couple days worth of models basically shows it falling apart across Iowa and bringing almost nothing east of here. If it can maintain its impressive looking for that it has in Nebraska 6(or more) inches would be common, but its not supposed to and thus 3-5 inch amounts SHOULD be more common.

    Thanks for a real answer.
On a side note, will this snow be wearing a jean jacket and have a mullet?

According to the model I put together yesterday, this storm has the potential to be awesome.
