    Motorcycles

Okay this is sort of stemming off another thread . . .

I am very close to buying my very first motorcycle. Nothing too fancy. 81 Kawasaki 750. (good starter bike)

I was wondering if any of you CF people owned a bike, and what kind? What was your first cycle?

Please post pictures if you have them.

crotch rockets are pretty lame, unless you're 16. Get a man bike, harley or equivalent.

This is coming from a guy who doesn't own a bike, btw. I'm talking image, here. ;)

    Re: Motorcycles

Oh yes. Getting very excited about the weather... I have a Harley Davidson 2006 FXSTBI (Fuel injected Night Train). Love riding, though life gets in the way of enjoying it as much as I'd like.

I'll post pics later, don't have access to any on the laptop.

    Re: Motorcycles

I've owned a bunch of bikes. My first, of course, was a Trail 70. Then, I got a Hodaka 125 set up for flat track racing. My next was a 1973 Honda CB 350 (2 cylinder), a Yamaha 650 and then a Suzuki GS 550. I owned a 350 Ducati in a box (never got it to run, along with a Norton 850 and 750, both of which I sold right away. I worked for URAL, the Russian sidecar motorcycle guys, and owned a 2 wheel drive sidecar rig for a while.

My last bike was a BSA 250 "Thumper". After that, I just quit bikes.

I'm drawn to older, less high-power models. I like doing maintenance. I also like the old-school bikes for the way they look.

I'm baaack! See my Hot Milk For Breakfast blog under Social Groups for more details

    Re: Motorcycles

I bought in the Spring of 1982 a brand new Honda Shadow 750 (black) when I was working full-time on the farm. I took it to Ames with me (along with my car) when I went back to finish my degree at ISU in the Fall of 1984.

I loved that bike and had 6 more payments until it was paid off, but had one semester of school left to graduate. Even though I was working 30+ hours a week, I didn't have enough $$$ to finish up my last semester & payoff the bike.

So, I was confronted it a major decision - sell the bike & finish my last semester or sit out a semester & finish paying off the bike. Yes, I did do the right thing & sold the bike & finished school.

I haven't had a motorcycle since 1987, so for my 50th bday (10 months) I intend to buy a Harley.

    Re: Motorcycles

My first bike was a 1974 Kawasaki 100 enduro, then I progressed to a 1974 Kawasaki 350 enduro. Fast forward 20 plus years. I now own a 1999 Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan v twin. I love it, but I am itching for a new bike.

I've had pretty good luck with Kaws. Much better than hawgs!

    Re: Motorcycles

Owned many bikes and have had a blast on all of them.

    1. Harley Davidson(AMF) SX175 dirt bike

    2. Honda XR250R 1984 model

    3. Yamaha 750 2 cylinder that I had to kick start half the time.

    4. Kawasaki 550 Spectre

    1984 Honda V45 Magna

    Now I have a 1992 Suzuki DR350.

Mine has just white tank and side panels. DOn't like the frizzy stuff.

Next bike will be a 2005 Honda XR650L
Can't wait for this one, but I do really like my Suzuki.
