Harrison Barnes does not list Iowa State one of his favorites

this is High Favorites as he has Duke, Florida, Kansas as his top 3.........Iowa State was the 1st to offer him and has been a fan of Iowa State............do you think he will continue to go to Iowa State games now..........

As a Iowa State fan and Barnes in the backyard of Iowa State, its really going to be tough to swallow when he goes to one of those schools..............

Where are you seeing this? If it's true, as long as he tells the staff "No thanks" as soon as possible I'm fine with it. ISU didn't hold up it's end of the bargain by showing him much.

    Was that link always there?

Not really, I expect it. He'll probably come back ala Thompson after some pine time.

That's scout compiling that list, not HB. Unless I see a quote from him otherwise I won't really worry about it.

Re: Harrison Barnes does not list Iowa State one of his favorites

I'm more surprised at UNC being medium rather than us not being high.

I'm sure the so-called national recruiting experts would struggle to rate our program in it's current state as "High". Kinda like football recruits and stars. Anybody showing interest in ISU loses a star, and anybody looking to a bigger program gains a star.

However, IMO, HB just isn't coming here anyways. I don't think our program is in good enough shape to get a home team discount at this point.

In my opinion he would have already announced his decision if it was ISU. The only reason he is waiting is so that he has to spend as little time as possible in Ames after he announces another school.

I don't blame him for stringing it out, but isn't national signing day in April? He has his whole senior year to go so I doubt several months would alleviate that much pain. He's gonna take a lot of heat by going out of state, justified or not.

Without getting Barnes, does this put the logo on McDermott for being a bad recruiter.........................Barnes could of rejuvenated the ISU basketball program and without him going to ISU its going to be a long road for recovery..........

Would Barnes been a better player than Fizer who was the best basketball player ever at Iowa State

Re: Harrison Barnes does not list Iowa State one of his favorites

I am in the same boat, I will hold out a tiny bit of hope until I hear him personally say he is going somewhere else. I could see this as a group of 3-4 Scout staff getting together and saying "there is no way he is going to a Big 12 cellar dwellar" and moving us down. To be honest, I feel that the fact that we still even on that "who's who" of basketball list is a minor miracle. If this continues to go through the summer, which he has indicated it will, hopefully we can make a strong run at the end of the year, CB will say he is coming back, and maybe sign another solid player...that could minorly effect HB's decision.

Can you imagine being a high school kid at Cameron Indoor last night? It would be very difficult to say no to a program and an atmosphere like that. Ranked as the 8th best college in America and probably #1 place to play college ball.

No... all this is saying is that we are nowhere near that program status of Duke, UNC, Florida, ect...which should come as no suprise to anyone. Greg's best legitimate shot was locking this kid up about 2 years ago when the whole nation hadn't heard of him, his back was against the wall as soon as the big boys caught wind of him and started recruiting him hard.

I hadn't thought of this, but it makes a lot of sense.

    Same here...

Best Case Scenario - He picks ISU
Second Best Case - He picks Florida and we schedule a home and home with them
Third Best - He chooses Florida.
