ISU 5 seed in Bracketology by Creme

Women's Basketball, WNBA Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - Women's Basketball - ESPN

Bad news, Creme has Iowa in at a 10 seed. Let's hope they lose a few, because Louisiana is farther than I want to travel.

ISU moved to 20 in the ESPN/Coaches poll.

I thought Creme would've moved us up a seed since we beat A&M (we were the #5 seed in the Berkeley region last week). Oh well, it's all speculation right now anyway...

there's two different brackets in IA City....why can't we be in one and Iowa the other?

No there aren't. They are back to 16 subregionals of 4 teams each after experimenting with 8 of 8 the past few years.

mred's right - only 4 teams. and the problem is that they try to avoid repeating regular season matchups as long as possible.

That, and so long as iowa is a 7,8,9,or 10 seed, we'd have to be a 1 or 2 seed to be in the same bracket anyways. Keep hoping for iowa losses and cinderella mid-majors in their conference tournies!

In RPI we jumped from #20 (low 5 seed) to #16 (low 4 seed) after beating A&M, so I can understand the 5 seed. Unless we can get all the way up to a 3 seed, we're probably better off as a 6 seed anyway.

Yep. Recapping a few things I said in other threads:

Iowa has six regular-season games left. Worst case (for them) they'll go 3-3 barring a real collapse: other than the Ohio State game tomorrow, the other games are all against teams not as good as Iowa (their end-of-season schedule is a lot like ours).

If they go 3-3 (and 1-1 in the big 10 tournament) they'll be 18-13 (10-8) with an RPI a bit better than 40. Last year Purdue was 18-14 (11-7) with a 35 rpi in a worse Big Ten and made it in as a 9 seed.

Actually, their RPI might be worse than I thought. CollegeRPI.com does projected RPI (RPI calculated assuming they'll beat worse teams and lose to better teams the rest of the way) and after the regular season they have Iowa as 19-10 (going 5-1) but with their RPI sliding all the way to 53 because their SOS is about to nosedive. Florida State made it in last season as an 11 seed at #59 (18-13), but they were quite possibly the last at-large to make it in.

I think Iowa will get in even if they are questionable since they host. Creme did move ISU up a little as he move ISU closer to their campus. I hope ISU wins enough to end up in East Lansing or South Bend. I think that's the best ISU can hope for at this point

What about putting Iowa St. in IC and sending the hawks packing? ISU draws crowds to Ames bigger than Iowa can get for their men's program - let alone for the women. If they are about selling tickets, they put ISU in I.C. and send teh hawks adn their 12 fans somewhere else.

If Iowa makes it in, they are required to be placed in Iowa City, per NCAA guarantee.

Re: ISU 5 seed in Bracketology by Creme

ISU is in a tough spot because of where the sites are. They will maybe seeded high enough to not be able to go to Chattanooga (Tenn), Columbus (tOSU), College Park (Maryland),Lubbock (OU) and Storrs (UCONN). You also have Iowa City which they won't play at if Iowa makes the dance which they will and either or both Los Angles or San Deigo as you California nad Stanford that most likely will be in those sites. You also have North Carolina, Auburn,Louisville, Florida and Baylor for sure ahead of ISU. That most likely takes out Bowling Green, Duluth and Baton Rouge as I'd be willing to guess that 3 of those 5 will be sent to one of those sites. Then you have 3 interesting sites in East Lansing, South Bend and Piscataway. 3 teams that will make the NCAA but what seed they get may determine who goes there as Rutgers could be as low as a 8-10 seed if so ISU won't have to worry about that place. Then you have Albuquerque as a likely place for a Big 12 team Baylor,A&M or ISU. Seattle is the other site that ISU could go to. If ISU gets a 4 or 5 seed i think they end up at East Lansing or South Bend a 3 seed most likely at Albuquerque if they fall to a 6 its not going to be a nice draw most likely

Not to mention the complexity of possibly 8 teams from the Big 12, and they are not supposed to meet until down to the sweet sixteen I believe. So that equals Big 12 spread out all over the place.
