    Sisters beat Kansas

After holding Kansas to 14 points in the first half and leading by 8, the Clones were down by 2 with a couple minutes left. They started making their free throws and pulled away in the last minute to win by 61 - 50. Tough win against a team that beat us twice last year.

alright! if we can get 8-9 more conference wins, we'd have a good chance at the tourney!

I havent seen any ISU games here in MN, are they still playing a zone exclusively, or now some man to man defense?

I just listened on the web - but, if stats reveal anything, Rachel isn't playing the dominant inside role I hoped for - one point and 3 boards in 14 minutes of play. She sat out last year and suffered through sickleave pre-season this year, so, she has may be behind. I hope she catches up soon, we need an effective post.

id say 10+ conference wins isnt out of the question. This is the best WBball team we've seen here in awhile.

Re: ISU defeats KU 61 to 50

10+ conference wins isn't just gonna get us in the tourney, it'll give us a fairly decent seed. 12+ conf wins is a sweet 16 seed, 14+ is probably an elite 8 seed.

looking way too far into the future, but that's never stopped anyone else on this site before...

Maybe if we win out we will actually be ranked. j/k but it's getting a little ridiculous. Good win for the ladies!

Re: ISU defeats KU 61 to 50

Got to see game on CSTV last night..........first Womens game I have seen in quite awhile. 12-1 record going in made me want to see the Fennelly talent he has this year.

Man, it was ugly at times.....turnovers....Fouls.........but a nice win. Fennelly is truely a talented coach, should be interesting to see how far they go in conference race. Based on what I saw I will follow this team more closely this season.

Re: ISU defeats KU 61 to 50

KU coach said the strategy was to beat up on ISU. Seems that was also the MN game plan and a few others as well. Must be the sisters have a reputation of not being physical. Ross is the most physical of the current Cyclones, and Pierson has the atributes to be physical, but hasn't brought it to the game. Wieben is far from a physical player, but she plays excellent position defense, she's long, blocks shots and is usually in the right place to rebound. But we really need Pierson to gain some confidence and play up to her potential.

They did mix in (wo)man to (wo)man defense at times last night, and it did seem to disrupt the young Kansas team. However, the whole game seemed disjointed and was pretty hard to watch. Shots weren't falling for us, so it was nice to win ugly. The Kansas team started 4 freshman, and managed to be tied with is at 44 with only around 4 minutes to go. I don't see a lot of our women's games, but this looked like the worst game we have played at home in a long time...but a win is a win!

I caught some of the game on a CSTV replay this morning. I'm really impressed with the talent these gals have. I'm hoping they get more games on there.
