How did you become a Cyclone fan?

This doesn't have to be basketball, but that's what brought it up.

When I was young my uncle wore ISU clothes and the rest of NW Iowa seemed to like the hawkeyes and that bothered me.

Hayden Fry was the football coach when I was old enough to pick sides. Enough said.

Re: How did you become a Cyclone fan?

My parents both went to ISU and everyone else in our extended family was Iowa fans and made fun of us. That's where the hatred grew. I really didn't have any passion about it as a little kid, until my parents took me to a bball game and Johnny's entrance lit the fire.

Re: How did you become a Cyclone fan?

Born in Iowa and moved to Florida very young, followed both Iowa and Iowa State. First got to see Iowa State play against the Gators in the NCAA Tournament, watching the game in class...

Moved to Iowa my senior year of HS, still didn't root one way or the other and decided to go to college back down in Florida then transfered to ISU in the fall of '99. Been a Cyclone ever since...

Went to the ISU Nebraska game (all big eight kicker - Gedgen sp. missed the game winner) when a senior in h.s. Attended I State University the next year. Earl Bruce started winning. Best time ever to be a football fan @ ISU.

Dexter Green's Cyclones were step one, Johnny's big win over Missouri sealed the deal, my first semester on campus.

I was raised as a Nebraska fan by my parents. Then I went to ISU and was immediately converted at the first football game of the season.
