Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

I would like to say that I think Mims is WAY under the radar. He is recruited as an athlete and that is exactly what he is. Also, I know Woods was listed as a linebacker earlier. This is because he played linebacker in high school, AT 275 lbs.!!! He is the scariest middle linebacker I have ever seen, though he he will play DT in college, his video is pretty impressive as well. They are both ranked as two stars, FWIW

Honestly Mims will blow your mind if you haven't seen him play (the QB).

Re: Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

They both look like very solid pick-ups.

Man, I'd be scared as hell in high school going up against a 275 pound linebacker. He comes at you hard in those videos, ouch.

And Mims looks awfully quick and elusive with his feet. Looks like he can run pretty damn well too. Another very good pick-up.

    Glad they're 'Clones!

Re: Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

Mims looks like an amazing talent, I like that he runs through tackles and takes people head on if he has to. I hope we can find a spot on offense for his talents!

Woods is a force, if the can teach him to stay low on the D-line he may be scary. He is a lot faster than I would have thought. Great finds!

Based on the videos, I'd say Mims has got the "cut on a dime" move down pat.

Boy, I guess. Defensive back? Hell with that! Qb, Rb, Sb, Wr . . . get this kid isolated on a defender and watch the fun! Would love to know what Coach Herman thinks of Brandon's talent.

We fans have been watching videos of ISU commitments now for several years, and in that time this young man is the most electrifying runner I have seen. Man, he's got it!

Re: Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

Hope Mims gets a shot at QB, kids got a cannon and runs like a deer.

Woods looks like he could be a freak - if he is at 270 already getting to 290 by fall shouldn't be a problem. With his altheltic ability, he could be one hell DT.

Re: Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

I really think mims is under rated too. The kid is a great athlete he could play any skill position on the field and make an impact. Some of his runs reminded me of the "the run".

Re: Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

From the look of the video, Woods definitely knows how to read and blow up a screen pass. Not a bad skill to have. Is he too slow to play linebacker? Or do we need the help too much on the d-line? If he has the skills to play linebacker, I wonder if they would even give him a shot. A 270 lb MLB could be a game changer at the collegiate level, provided he was quick enough. Maybe that's his knock, I don't know. Just speculating.

Re: Brandon Mims and Walter Woods (committs)

If Woods is quick enough to play MLB at 270 you'd think he'd have unbelievable speed on the line. I know you'll have to teach him to play with his hand down but I can't for the life of me think of why he wouldn't be a more sought after prospect, and I'm not one to usually say thinks like that.

As per Rivals, he runs a 4.8 forty. A little slow for a LB. Pretty darn quick for a D-tackle.

If Woods is fast enough to be a LB, and big enough to be a DT, why not put him in at DE? He'd be in the backfield all day.
