    Well, it's happened.

I think I've officially become a fan of the women's basketball team. I've always liked Coach BF (talked to him a few times when with the Iowa State Daily) and this team is SO well coached and seems like it ALWAYS responds well to adversity. I've always cheered for them (of course, it's ISU) but never followed unless a tourney game was on t.v., but that's really starting to change.

So...it's official. Where do I sign up

Yeah, I hear there are color TVs now, too. I might have to run out and buy one before they get really popular.

    Feels great doesn't it?

The Twister Sisters never seem to let you down and then, on Senior Night, they thank you profusely with utmost sincerity. It's an excellent return for no real investment.

    Enjoy!

    Re: Well, it's happened.

True, ISU WBB is not the typical kick to the nuts that most people associate with Cyclone athletics. For exmple, the WBB team lost its starting to inside players last year, and still made it to the second round of the NCAA's. Most people would have packed it in at that point. But, not Bill, and not that team. Their expectations remained the same--they didn't settle for excuses.

Anyway, welcome aboard. You won't jump off, and you won't be dismissed for having high expectations.

Oh, by the way, the volleyball team is much the same way.

Thumbs up Re: Well, it's happened.

I don't make it to many games, but I'm a huge fan of the women's program. I was in KC the year ISU won both the men's and women's tournaments, and the women's games in old Municipal Stadium (what a dump!) were more fun!

I've shared this story before, but it's worth repeating. I was a freshman at ISU in 1981 and the women played William Penn at Hilton. We went because my roomy's HS girlfriend was on the WP team. There couldn't have been more than 50 people inside Hilton and we sat right behind the WP bench. Late in the game I asked the WP coach to put in the roomy's girlfriend, explaining that we'd come to see her. She did it! Now we're averaging the third most fans in the nation. Oh how times have changed!

    Re: Well, it's happened.

I was at a game (I think it was Colorado) the year before Bill came aboard, since a friend asked me to help out and "ref" the Special Olympics basketball game at halftime.

I think it was an overtime game, and the girls showed some talent and heart. Still, the place was completely empty.

And then I didn't follow up on my idea to start going. D'oh!!!

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

I love going to the womens games. Coach BF is just an awesome coach in my book, very intense!! Oh and Wild Bill is by far the super fan, the twister sisters give it there all hands down and that is what I like to watch and they are exciting to watch. He sure is, and it appears he now has a potential replacement under his superfan tutelage. The tradition continues!
