    Chris Colvin = Willie Warren?

I have to admit that I have had questions as to whether a slender Chris Colvin (6-2 175) was strong to compete in the Big XII right away--as a freshman Diante struggled. There's just a great deal that requires strength, not the least being defense.

However, after watching OU's Willie Warren (and having seen Colvin, albeit not in person), I think that the two have very similar builds and athleticism. I'm not saying that they have exactly the same skill sets or polish, but I'm not so concerned any longer about whether Colvin will physically be able to contribute right away. That's a big relief to me.

Edit: And of course, Colvin was in the crowd yesterday.

I sure hope so...... Warren has a scary toolbox of skills. Can shoot deep, take you off the dribble and play inside too.

Warren was the leading score in the Mickey D game. Talent difference.

I'm sure there could be. Colvin could be great, but it's been a while since I have seen a freshman that can dominate the game from guard like that.

While very true, it doesnt mean that Colvin can't have the same impact on us next year as Brackins did last year.

Hopefully he can get 15 mpg, that would be great.

Re: Chris Colvin = Willie Warren?

I am under the impression that Colvin needs to work on his jump shot. He's more of a driver/scorer. He's not going to bomb 30 foot threes...

Secondly, you guys are on crack to try to compare one of our recruits to Willie Warren. All you guys are doing is setting yourself up for dissapointment.

Warren is certainly no Wes Eikmeier.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Please stop now. Just stop. That's similar to comparing me to Johnny Depp.

Warren was a top 5 recruit in the country. Colvin maybe a top 5 recruit in Illinois.

They are both men and they both play basketball. I THINK thats where the similarities end. I'd love to be wrong. Warren is a freak, Colvin will be a tenacious addition and add needed depth to our backcourt.

Re: Chris Colvin = Willie Warren?

No comparison. Wille Warren is a first round pick right now. He has a better build and is extremely talented.

I think Colvin will get a ton of minutes for us next year, but I am not expecting him to score 15 a game like Warren does for OU.

Warren would be equivalent in talent to Barnes. He was a top 5 recruit.

Yesterday was perhaps one the most jaw dropping performances from a freshman I've seen it quite some time. I hope he leaves for the draft after this season.
