    Super Bowl in Iraq

ESPN - OTL: Two Beers In The Desert - E-ticket

This was a really good read from ESPN. It sounds like most of the boys are pretty happy to be getting a couple beers tomorrow.

    Re: Super Bowl in Iraq

Frankly, this is going to be eh, not so good.

Kind of like a rifle range. While shooting in itself is loads of fun, the Army manages to screw it up with all sorts of suffering put in between your 40 precious rounds of ammunition.

The two beers will be the most regulated, accounted for, and safety-conscious beers in the history of beer consumption. And it will suck far worse than it wil be good, due to the complete hassle the Army will make it.

I swear, the US Army would make group sex with supermodels boring, repulsive and awful. But it's what the organization is designed to do; they suck the fun out of any activity.

That's why we love it so much, hmmm?

Amen! Nothing is cooler than mandatory fun. Waiting to see if the CO has caught you having fun so you can leave and actually enjoy yourself. Good times!!

Phad is right. During the Marine Corps' birthday in 2007 while I was in Iraq, our leaders hovered over us to make sure we didn't leave a controlled area and they didn't let underage soldiers have beer. It was a pain in the ***! That being said, I still would rather have had them than not had them!!!

    Re: Super Bowl in Iraq

actually its pretty sweet.. im pretty pumped to get my 2 beers.. mandatory fun normally yes is crappy.. but here it can be alright.. and i know here the beers are only being served at certain times.. about 3 different times throughout the day to prevent anyone from going to work after drinking..

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Mandatory fun or not, if I had what it takes to be over there (I don't so thank god for those of you that do that job) I would want nothing more than some beer while watching my Steelers.

    Re: Super Bowl in Iraq

I was in Iraq for a couple of Super Bowls. I agree with the other statements that the Army with make it suck. By the second year we had friends and family send over vodka in water bottles. Then kept to our self. Small, our unit only party. It was a good time.
