Staiger AGAIN has ZERO points inside the 3P line!

Yes, I am beating a dead horse. But I will beat on this horse and beat on it and keep beating on it!

Staiger is capable of giving us SO much more! Yet, he insists on hanging around the 3-point line on offense and refuses to go anywhere near the hoop like it is the source of some deadly contagion!

He DOES have the height and size to be a real force inside! For the record, Willie Warren is SHORTER than Staiger, and yet he had 29 points today. And, yes, he is also a freshman. If you ask people around here, they'd say you have to be 13 feet tall and at least a junior to be able to score inside, and that Staiger is a short little pipsqueak and unable to do it.

I know this will likely be moved, but I don't care. I want it read, not buried inside another 1000-message thread.

In case you were wondering. Lucca struggles handling the ball. Excellent passer, good shooter, not so good ball handler. He's a lot more valuable around the perimeter than he is inside. Let DG do the work in the lane. Have you ever seen Lucca try and post anyone up? Maybe there is a reason for that. Like maybe he's not good around the basket? I mean, McDermott sees him everyday in practice. Maybe he's on the arc because that's where he's most valuable. Just a thought...

I think with that being the case, he needs to burn off about 15-20 pounds. He's really too slow to be a perimeter guy and 2 Guard defender right now. He either needs to learn to post up and/or get to the hoop or slim down. If he's not hitting 3's, he doesn't bring much to the table. And he just doesn't seem quick enough to buy himself space to shoot. Something's gotta give...

Lucca's part of the offense is to not to take the ball inside.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Most European kids are not inside threats...they shoot the ball, and Staiger does that. Its going to be difficult to get inside because he has grown accustom to sitting on the perimeter and hitting threes. Willie Warren, on the other hand, grew up playing U.S. ball where they slash and get to the hoop, so he has done it throughout his basketball career, unlike Staiger!

Apparently you aren't aware that McDermott is the worst coach ever and wouldn't know what to do if he had Michael, Kobe, Shaq and LeBron on the team.

Even when he's not hitting, he's drawing away a defender because he is a threat to hit. Notice teams try to make sure he doesn't have any clean looks.

This JJ Redick guy didn't do much but hit three after three in college, and Lucca is currently hitting a better percentage than Redick did his freshman, sophomore, and junior years.

I wouldn't either. There is no way you could keep them all happy.

I also noticed that Bryan Petersen didn't have a single dunk! What is up with that?

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

The sad thing is, I actually laughed out loud when I read that.

Really?? Comparing Lucca to JJ?? Wow. JJ hit 92 3-pointers his freshman year and made it to the line over 100 times(making 92% of them). He took 140 FG's that weren't 3-pointers. Compare that to Lucca. Lucca has hit 53 3's, and is on pace for about 70. He's been to the FT line 8 times. 8!! He's taken 25 shots other than 3's.

You don't even want to know how poorly Lucca matches up to JJ's sophomore season, which Lucca is right now. Facts. JJ could do a lot more than just shoot. JJ was much quicker and had the ability to create his own shot. He was also about 190 pounds, compared to Lucca's about 230. If Staiger could trip that in half, he might be able to contribute half of what Reddick did...

Re: Staiger AGAIN has ZERO points inside the 3P line!

Anyone hear what exactly happened to Lucca when he went down in the 2nd half? That was a tense moment, to say the least. Looked like he was holding his shoulder, but obviously he's ok since he came back in after awhile.

I assume they might've mentioned it on the post game show but I didn't catch much of it since I was enjoying the best BBQ in Ames at Battles.

I didn't hear it mentioned on the post game show. My guess was a stinger. But, there's an outside chance that it was a separated shoulder that they popped back in. He was back awful quick for an injury like that, though...
