Boise State vs ISU recruiting..how does Boise do it?

Coaching makes a difference..there is no doubt. Look at the recruiting classes of Iowa State vs. Boise State:
    2004 Iowa State 42nd ranked...Boise 85th
    2005 Iowa State 58 ranked...Boise 64
    2006 Iowa State 63 ranked...Boise 70
    2007 Iowa State 63 ranked...Boise 79
Oklahoma was bigger and faster, but Boise was more creative and had a lot of heart.

I don't know but after watching that game I wish we could hire that offensive coordinator. Talk about some great play calling and some effective trick plays. Best bowl game so far by a long shot.

What a fan's game! Best bowl game of the season...and perhaps even the decade. I loved the creativity...NOTHING predictable about the BSU playing calling!!!

Hated 'em when we had to play 'em in the Inhumanitarian Bowl on Smurf turf...but I don't mind watch'n them take down Stoopid Bobby's Sooners.

Other teams are going to make a run at that coach...maybe not this year - but definitely next.

the coach mentioned the 2 backup QB's called the plays (even the last hook and ladder).

I think as a unit, they were very well coached.

It's called having faith and trusting your players. When kids see that, they will work even harder for you.

I do not think any of their athletes looked like anything spectacular... A few looked like they needed steroid tests though... It is probably just hard work though.
Put Boise State in the big12 and they are in ISU's shoes. They went into the game with a chip on their shoulders. The biggest difference between them and us is the mentality that they truely believed they could win.

Obviously they have done an excellent job of projecting kids that were'nt highly rated. They look quite a bit faster and more talented than we do at this point. I do think that they are able to take some players that might not qualify at most BCS schools, but maybe that is an excuse.

In my opinion this just goes to show how amazingly bad of a job our coaches did utilizing Seneca Wallace. Nothing against Zabransky, because he is good, but I don't think he could hold SW's jock.

THE FREAKING CONNECTICUT HUSKY'S? We should have fired the whole staff then and there!

Re: Boise State vs ISU recruiting..how does Boise do it?

It appears the boys from Boise were smarter than the hillbillies from OklAHOMA.

    3-5 for pathetic Big 12.
Well Oklahoma blew it. They came out like a slow beer truck at the start of the game. No Top Ten rating for the Stoops who was Stopped.

Nebraska had no offense the second half after spending two years recruiting offensive players. Not good for the North. Maurice Purify was a no show. Auburn used 170 yards offense to win. Two straight losses and only 9-5. Looks like Solich 10-3 recrod when he was fired in 2003 was better year.

Texas 26-24 squeeker over Iowa was a reminder that Colt McCoy was not overpowering near the end. The Texas talent almost blew it to an inspired Iowa.

Oklahoma State win actually looked like a Big 12 team.

KSU blowout of 45-10 was dastardly and embarrassing (they should have taken Kansas for the bowl.

Rather a poor year for the Big 12. Totally unexpected in my book.

CFH HMagic bball season next year.

Re: Boise State vs ISU recruiting..how does Boise do it?

There was a mental toughness in this game from both teams that ISU has just not had. ISU put in OU's place down early in a big game does not battle back. And ISU in Boise's place does not pull that game off down the stretch, ISU would have folded with the pick six towards the end of regulation.

That is something I really think Chizik can help the team with. Getting that confidence and that swagger to keep on fighting when things start going wrong. I am already excited about next season.

ummm i think its cause they have a blue field...
maybe we should get a red field??
    lol sorry

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Boise State vs ISU recruiting..how does Boise do it?

Boise State's QB was very impressive to me. He made a couple mistakes, but he came back with confidence and led them to the win. I couldn't believe, for a pocket passer, how fast he was. They said he has 4.5 speed...
