Has anyone ever played funnel ball?

I have never - not once - seen someone play funnel ball.
I google-searched funnel ball, and I couldn't find pictures of anyone playing funnel ball, except for kids from other countries and advertisements.
If you don't even know what game I'm talking about, I'd understand.
But I guess funnel-ball hoops cost upwards of $700.

There's one at a park where I'm from. Pretty much a worthless game.

We had those hoops on our school playground where I grew up. We never really knew what they were for, heck most of the teachers didn't even know. We usually played with mini-basketballs at recess when our hands were too small for regular basketballs, and they fit through the holes perfectly. We had some made-up rules but I can't remember what they were.

We had those on our playground at school, back about 15 years ago, when I was in grade school. I never knew what those things were for or what they were called.

Funnel ball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This has to be the least used piece of playground equipment ever... I've never seen anyone actually playing at one of these things. I always thought they were public art or something...

Funhoop by Childforms - Funnel Ball Commercial School Playground Equipment

Now I've seen someone playing it... whoa...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3Hb0GodXk"]Update: a video of the most fun ever had on a funnel ball hoop.[/ame]

I don't even know why I thought of it, but I just remember thinking how funnel ball hoops were such a waste of playground space.

I don't even think there are any official rules. I think someone just throws it in, and whoever catches it gets the number of points written above the hole.

I suppose the game favors hustle and height. I hope no misguided park and rec managers are still wasting money on new funnel ball equipment.

We had one at my elementary school, I agree, it only rarely got used. Maybe on the days we had to stay on the blacktop.

Funnel ball is for sissies. It was developed for the satletically challenged kids to make is fair and square or socialistic playground activity: redistribution of points.

Those satletically challenged kids have it rough.

I used to climb in it, does that count?

Like everyone else has said, we had one... but nobody knew the rules or ever played it. We would occasionally throw random balls in there if we were bored. Definitely a giant waste of money.

Yes, yes it does. Were you at Northwood when we had that big tower thing? Thing was like 30ft tall maybe? Served no purpose but it's one of those things that would never fly now because some kid would try to jump off it.

Re: Has anyone ever played funnel ball?

Nobody ever played funnel ball? Seriously? I remember playing it a lot in grade school. Nobody knew the rules or anything, but we'd stand around, chuck balls into it, and, uh, catch them when they came out. Lots of fun when you're 8.
