I am not a fan of throwing the season away

However if Peterson and Thompson can't get it done. It would be a good idea to start playing the younger guys more. It's not like they are killing it out there. It would be nice to get Charles (who is playing pretty well and Buckley (has no experience) some time on the court. We are getting beat already. Might as well get them on the court. Eik could use some more PT also.

I echo this. Petersen looks like he keeps everyone on the floor calm (which in some cases is not good, but with young guys it's necessary). I'd rather have Petey in there who you know is going to bust his balls than a few other players right now...

I'd like to see more of Eik and Buckley too to see what they can do and give them a little Big 12 experience. Next year to be successful the Cyclones need Eik and either Colvin or Buckley to step up an contribute.

Why do people want to see more Eik? What has he shown so far that garners more PT?

And why do people continue to wish for less time on the court for Petey? Dumb. Clearly he's one of the few guys making a solid contribution consistently.

Clearly the OP is not watching the same games the rest of us are.

Re: I am not a fan of throwing the season away

Doesn't matter who you put in the guard slots...we will still be very weak there. DG, BP, Boozer, DB, Eik, Lucca, Haluska, Cam Lee..etc.

There are only two guys on that list that can create their own shot when needed. One is DG and the other is DB.

Rag on DG all you want, but he is the best of that group...especially at the point. He has had problems the last couple games, but I will continue to say he played a good game at Mizzou (his stat sheet supports this). Against KU all of our guards were overmatched and against CU he generally didn't play well.

I would like to see more DG and DB at the same time as I think they are the two best bets to be able to drive and dish.

Why? Becuase if you are not going to win crap this year you might as well start getting some guys experience for next year when they will need it. Or we can go your way. Keep losing every game and then when next year rolls around we can see the dear in the headlights look again.

Ya don't get it, which is not uncommon.

The young guys should be getting more time - but not completely in place of a guy that's actually giving us a chance to have some success this year. And, Hamilton has already seriously cut into Alex's time...

I hope we try that more as well.
maybe in this game, where we really aren't 'expected' to win, it would be good to get DB and Boozer more time, just to see if they might hit a groove.. They at least physically would match up?

Because he has shown me he has the ability to shoot and I want him to get PT so he can get more comfortable and get into a rythm

If so, he's certainly not playing like it, at all. If any guy on the team needs some bench time to "reflect", it's DG.

Boozer hasn't won me over yet. He has questionable ball skills IMO. He goes at it hard which is admirable, but I just don't think he brings a ton more to the table.

I don't think Peterson is as big of an asset as some say. He should be in the rotation because of his ability to hit the open jumper and get some weakside rebounds....but he is totally unable to contain dribble penetration. How many "and-1's" have we seen on a dribble blow by with Peterson getting the foul? He's just not athletic enough. Give him the right circumstances and he can do well, but he's very limited.
