I agree... I think it is because more information was revealed. So I'm assuming the button Desmond was pushing was in fact keeping the Hydrogen Bomb from exploding and screwing up whatever the magnetic thing was under the ground? Since they do in fact bury the bomb in the future.

Re: Lost: Season 5 episode 2.

Wasn't Charlotte in an episode before in the desert where they found remains of Polar Bears?

Tonight's episode was freaking awesome. My wife is fading fast on this show now, and I am pushing straight ahead.

The Whidmore twist was one of the best of the shows.

On Richard and Locke & the compass...its tough to get the mind around that...but yes, it makes some sense. Richard goes to see Locke in several years...but now, maybe Locke will have that 'memory' of the compass, and things will be different. I dont know how the time travel rules work.

And yes, it seems as though Danny has been tripping back and forth in time for quite a while.

So Whidmore's obsessions with the Black Rock ship now makes some sense, since it would have been on the island when he was on it as a younger man. He wanted the manifest for clues on how to get back.

Penny and Dez are going to LA now...remember, Ben told Whidmore that he was going to kill his daughter, since the 'rules changed' after Ben's 'daughter' was killed.

This show is something else. It's gonna be a big bummer when its all said and done.

And yes, it makes sense that they laid out the entire story plot, then started cutting it up and added twists as they went along.

I was thinking that they buried the bomb, and the hole from the explosion will lead them to the discovery of the "energy" that will let them time travel.

Also, I found this image last week from reading one of the Lost forums...its a pic of one of the monks Des was around when he was in the monestary...with Ms Hawking. She has to be Faraday's mother...I thought that the background was Oxford, and after tonight's episode, I am sure of it. I will be shocked if Ms Hawking isn't Faraday's ma.

Yeah someone figured out that she was Faradays mother in our discussion after the first episode. I believe it was ripvdub. Nice work, because it has to be her if they say she's in LA.

Re: Lost: Season 5 episode 2.

    From Lostpedia:

    • Ellie is Eloise Hawking
      • Ellie is a nickname for Eloise
      • There is strong evidence that Ms. Hawking is Faraday's mother and Faraday mentioned that Ellie looked "familiar"

    • Ellie is the mother of the woman whom Faraday conducted his research.

    • Ellie is Penny Widmore's mother.

So the girl with the gun on Faraday is potentially his own mother, and Faraday and Penny could be brother and sister? The above were theories from Lostpedia

In the Season 4 DVD extras, there was a snippet about the different locations they film the show at. One of things they mentioned was that they used the same location to film the monastery and Oxford, as it is one of the few buildings in Hawaii that had the desired look. So I wouldn't necessarily read too much into that.

Makes sense... i would put money on that if someone gave me 10,000 to 1 odds. If someone ever gives you 10,000 to 1 odds you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I'm going to be a very rich man.

So does Desmond now have the respect of Charles Widmore? He stuck to his guns and didn't answer any questions, while at the same time getting the info he needed.

My guess is for some reason Widmore needs Desmond to go back to the island as well. That's why he gave him the info.

There's no doubt that Whidmore didnt give that up without an ulterior motive. Remember...Des is special...and Ms Hawking knows that, because she talked with Des when his mind was moving in and out of time on the freighter.

Great, Great Show. I get "Lost" in the plot every week.

Got to be on of the best drama/mystery shows I've seen in the last 10 or 15 years.

Re: Lost: Season 5 episode 2.

Not sure how I felt about tonight's episode. The whole nuclear bomb thing seemed unnecessary... and now people are suggesting that this is what was the Swan Station was intended for? Seems like a lackluster explanation.

I love where the time travel thing is going though. I don't even feel like it's a cop out... sure, it might be used as a vehicle by the show's writers to show us some of the island's past, but it's not being used liberally to get themselves out of a mess.

It also seems to explain one nugget that has always bothered me since the beginning. If the Others' lived in nice houses that belonged to Dharma at one point, they seem pretty civilized. Why not just welcome the crash survivors into the fold? It all begins to make sense... they had to do certain things in order to preserve the timeline. It also begins to explain how our losties survived the crash in the first place... because they already exist earlier in the timeline to affect the future timeline.

I also love that Locke's place with the Others are starting to come together. There's a reason why they were anticipating his arrival... it's because he's popped up in so many random places in the past to begin with.

I hate to say it but for a split second when I saw the title of this thread I thoughts it was about the basketball game in Colorado and not the TV show.

Cyclone: 1st, Jayhawk: 2nd, Hawkeye? Never!
