Garrett (at least he drives to the basket)
Petey (has the fire every game, plus he rebounds)
Boozer (please no Lucca - hyped as Tarzan, plays like Jane)
    Brackins
    Vanderbeken

Yeah Boozer and his 1 point a game are much better for us than Staiger

Lucca is in a rut, but the guy had played really well for about 7 straight games before his rut. I like Boozer coming off the bench and getting the dirty plays for us, but he really doesn't bring in offense to the table and that is our biggest problem right now

Boozer will crash the boards and get tip-ins. Lucca plays like he's made of glass.
Our comeback against KU came with Boozer on the floor and Lucca on the bench. He brings energy and it rubs off. Just sayin'

I know. I love those things about Boozer, but that Kansas game was just one game, and arguably the worst Lucca has played this season

Maybe the Lucca thing is my biggest gripe about our style. He is stationed outside, "just to shoot," as GMac puts it. He is a great passer, sees the floor well; he could have a ton of assists if he was moving inside and out, setting screens, then popping out to receive the ball, and catching defenses shifting, etc.

Garrett was also on the bench during that run against KU. Coincidence?

    Re: lineup next game

I'd like to see the following:

    1) Buckley, he has good ball handling skills, and needs experience for the future, it appears we aren't going to win this year.
    2) Garret, he is more of a slasher, he isn't a true point, I think moving him to 2 would take pressure of him, and he could play more on instinct, McDermott has got his head spinning at point.
3)Lucca, he is our 2nd best scoring threat on the floor, McDermott needs to find a way to get him some open shots. He was 2-3 from 3 against Colorado, but only shot the ball 4 times. That's ridicolous!!!
4)Brackin's, great player, but needs to learn to look for his teammates when double teamed, instead of forcing the ball everytime.
5)Hamilton, good offensive threat, and I don't see any difference between him and Alex Thompsen on defensive side.

    6) BP should substitute in for Buckley and Garret..
    7) Vanderbeeken should subsitute in for Hamilton and Brackins..

--These players should never see the floor IMO, unless some gets in foul trouble:
    -Alex Thompsen.
    -Shawn Haluska

    Re: lineup next game

I don't get the obsession with Vanderbeeken. The kid hits a 3 once in awhile but has little to no most game and is a liability on defense. What I don't understand is why Hamilton does not get more minutes. He doesn't make too many mistakes when he is in there and he is a nice compliment to Craig. Craig has been pretty good about finding him when he gets doubled down too. I think DG needs to be held accountable for his wildness sometimes and when that happens bring in Buckley and see what the kid can do. Buckley hasn't done anything spectacular but he hasn't played enough to and when he is in there he's usually much more under control than DG.

The whole player defections have really hurt Mac IMO because it's hard to hold guys accountable for mistakes when you are scared 1 outburst on them could result in another Wesley Johnson situation. Guys were much more mentally tough when Larry and Tim would pull them after a terrible play and then proceed to rip them a new one on the bench and sit them there for an extended time to prove a point. Even Tinsley wasn't able to be immune from the wrath of Larry.

Man, you summed up my thoughts exactly! Vanderbeeken shouldn't be taking so many 3's. I like my bigs getting rebounds, not shooting 3's (except Brackins, he has earned the right to basically do whatever the heck he wants!)

Buckley needs to play more. Period. Can it really be much worse? At least it sends a message to DG!

I think Greg has been just slammed with all the defections. We have lost the best player on the team every year and it was mostly out of the blue. Greg couldn't even plan for it! Wesley was the worst. I look at this team and just get mad at WJ because it would've been sooooooo different with him in there. Take anyone out (excluding Brack-attack) and put him in and tell me we aren't at least 8 points and 5 rebounds better! Plus it opens up others too!

WJ basically took a giant dump all over ISU and Greg's dreams...
