    What I Don't Understand...

Everyone knows I've been a big McDermott supporter, and I still don't think we should be firing the guy, but...

Players have got to be held accountable...if a guy takes a bad shot, makes a careless turnover, or doesn't box out...chew his *** out, or bench him, or both.

The same players make the same dumb mental mistakes game, after game, after game...and they remain on the court...if they are chewed out at all during the game, it is in a civil fasion.

Players need to KNOW there will be reprocussions for dumb mental errors or lack of hustle...and right now, our players don't know that, because they continue to make the same mental errors over, and over, and over again.

Players under Larry and Tim would be too scared to continue to make these foolish mistakes, because they knew they'd get there *** chewed in front of everyone and wind up on the bench. Whether it was Fizer, or Lee Love-it didn't matter.

Our team right now is clearly not scared of consequences for mistakes, because there appears to be very few, if any consequences.

    Thank you.

Its not all McD's fault. At some point you have to start blaming guys that play on the court.

It changed when Wes left...Greg got soft b/c he was worried about losing players b/c he was too hard on them. You can't be a hard ***, then go soft, then try to go back to being a hard ***. It confuses young players and they just dont know what to do.

So actually it is Greg's fault.

These are all "his" guys. You bet your *** it's McDermott's fault. He controls who he recruits into his program, doesn't he? It's not like this is year 1 and he's coaching a bunch of guys from a previous staff.

I think Mac knows his x's and o's very good...but my post is directed at Greg for holding players accountable.

Why do we continue to allow uncontested layups (other than the reach in giving them a 3 point play)? Foul hard or not at all!

Agreed. It potentially points to coaching and makes me wonder what Greg is teaching and if he's even sending a clear signal of what he expects... or maybe what's needed to maximize the teams strengths and put the team in the best position to win.

Right now I wonder if the correct plan and message is being sent to the players. If so, it doesn't clearly show on the court.

It comes down whether or not it's Greg's coaching... which if it is not, then he should be benching the players that are not executing his plan. Since I see no benching. Does that mean that they are doing what he expects?? If so, then it may go back to coaching.

I don't want to rag on Greg... but coaching direction, leadership, and discipline is lacking on this team. And I clearly don't think we are any less talented then CU.... I for one don't buy the talent argument... there is more talent on this team in addition to Craig.

I think it more the ability to quickly realize the potential of the player and to get them to execute a SIMPLE plan. In my opinion that's coaching. Even down to making shots... good coaches can help players learn to make shots.

Greg needs to go back to basics like dribbling and shooting just like our fball team had to relearn how to tackle. What happens if CB has an off night?

Wayne Moore is looking better with each loss.

    Re: What I Don't Understand...

I think Greg knows his x's and o's about as good as anyone...and I think if the guys we have executed what he's preaching, we'd be ok (not great, but ok)...

But right now we have the same guys making the same dumb (easily fixable) mental errors every game...and they remain on the court, with no tongue lashing or anything like that (at least during the game)...

People played HARD, and didn't repeatedly make dumb mental errors when Eustachy and Floyd were here...because they knew the second they slacked off, or made a dumb mistake...they were in deep ****, and were gonna be sitting on the bench for who know's how long...

There doesn't appear to be many consequences AT ALL (at least during games) for careless play under Mac.

Maybe he needs to light a fire under them Saturday before the game.

Honestly, I thought we were not athletic, but I thought we would be able to shoot better than this.

We cannot even pass the ball around the perimeter way away from the basket without fumbling it out of bounds. We are one of the worst passing teams that I have ever seen. What is up with that? Do we throw our passes locked onto receivers like radar???

With all of this being said... we looked great at TX. Now this at CU???

I'm not sure what to think anymore. At the end of day... it goes back to being the coach's job and responsibility to figure it out and produce. Which is not happening. That's why they get paid big time money.

Ywp, that was a million dollar performance tonight.

The loss was explained away with McCarney Blarney.

Walters seemed scared to say we stunk it up bigtime.

    Guess we are ISU.

Exactly... we play down to our competition it seems like. We get up and play hard against teams like Texas, and then we take a night off against a freaking HORRIBLE colorado team and get beat. Why can't we give 100% every night?!
