    Iowa vs TX

I thought that the Hawks played very well, and really looked solid and quick on defense. Lots of guys running to the ball, ect.

The TX defense made Andy Brodell look like the all american he isn't, but the Longhorns pass defense has not been good all year and has given up a lot of long plays.

The ineligable receiver thing was just one of those plays that Iowa cheated, they knew they were, and they just hoped noone would catch it. Sort of like going 75 mph on the interstate. You know you are speeding, and if you get a ticket for it, you would be mad, but it doesn't mean you were right, it just means the rules were inforced more strictly than you thought they would be.

Any Hawk fan that really watched the game would realize that Iowa could have and should have been called for holding on every pass play. There were several very obvious one on one holds way behind the line that would have killed Iowa drives.

In the end, Iowa looked way better than they showed at the end of thier season, so they should be very happy. The reality is that winning or loosing bowl games, unless it is for the NCG, mean very little. Getting to play in them and playing well is what counts.

You could call holding on pret near every pass play in football.

yes, but the big difference is that besides all the holds at the line that didn't get called, there were a ton of them in the backfield in one on one situations. Most of the time this is the holding that gets called, and without those holds Tate would have been pounded into the turf several times.

I think it was a matter of Chandler just leaning too far in and setting up too far in after coming across in motion.

That was the same play that Iowa used in 2002 from Banks to Clark to win the game, the same play they scored a TD on in the first half of the Outback Bowl in 2004, and numerous other times during the past five years.

Chandler definitely lined up on the line and should have been a yard back. The ref call was proper.

iowa played their best game of the year (by far), and still lost.. texas would have won by 20 if the hawks would have played a typical game
