    rofl

I laugh, because those awful "free radio" commercials were right. Satellite radio prices are going up. Not a good way to keep business in a poor economy.

XM/Sirius will be irrelevant in 5 years. 3G networks and streaming audio are the way ahead.

That's my biggest beef with XM. You have to pay extra to get satellite radio in other vehicles or in-house.

My girlfriend has XM and it's a nice service. Just not very consumer friendly if you ask me.

Ahhhhhhhh yes.... the famous 'we will merge and therefore provide better and cheaper service to our customers' scenario. As we like to do on this board, the second I heard about the potential merger I thought, "the moment they merge, increase in prices in 3 - 2 - 1...."

    Re: Sirius/Xm rates going up

I have had sirius since 2004 and this is the first time they have raised rates. When was the last time a company held their rates flat for 5 years. I actually believe this is the first rate increase in the history of Sirius.

I think the consumer friendly part is how you want to use it, the car only units are terrible, but I have a portable that I had to pay a little for upfront, but have a car kit, home kit, and am able to take it anywhere. Simply love it!

    Re: Sirius/Xm rates going up

You are now able to also adjust your packages down to save money, so even with the price hike you can offset it by dropping some channels.

    Re: Sirius/Xm rates going up

so my rate that I renewed on my car in Nov is safe, but my wife's is up in April. if we renew her's it will go up $2. not too bad in my eyes. I've had Sirius since 03 and the price has never changed.

    Re: Sirius/Xm rates going up

    Agreed,
I've had XM for several years and it is all I listen to. Every MLB game, most college games and now every NBA game. Not to mention you can avoid having to listen to Jon Miller and Marty and Miller. A few bucks isn't going to make that much of a difference.

    Re: Sirius/Xm rates going up

Businesses need to understand there is a price consumers wont pay.

Personally, NFL Sunday ticket and XM are getting very very very very very close to it if they haven't gone over it already.
