Bears Fans: Do You Want Warner?

The Chicago Tribune has a column about the Bears possibly being interested in signing Kurt Warner. This will be interesting to follow...just wish teams/agents would refrain from this type of talk while players are still playing for their current team! I know the Bears QB situation is unsettled...but would Warner necessarily be the answer to the QB problems in Chicago?

Kurt Warner will have plenty of options, but will Chicago Bears be one of them? -- chicagotribune.com

I would welcome anyone that resembles a QB at this point.

No thanks... I'll take Tom Brady or Matt Cassell though.

I just wonder how much the Bears would want to invest into a 2 or 3 year "solution"? Obviously that is the toughest position to clean up since good QBs rarely go into free agency. And to get a QB in the draft that can play right away you virtually have to have a top 10 pick...or higher!

after the way he played this year, YEAH! orton is ok, but he will never be among the NFL elite. warner wont be the long term solution, but he will help over the next few years. the bears arent going to get him because they wont like his price tag.

I was wondering about Cassell too. Not a big resume...and might have to overpay for what he has accomplished...but could be a solid starter for years to come?

If he wins a Superbowl ring in AZ do you think the Cardinals will let him go?

Bingo! The Bears won't commit to it...even though that division is winnable for them!

Very difficult question for the front office to answer in Phoenix! Win or lose there will be pressure to bring him back...even with Leinert on the bench!

The dude is turning 38 this year. I would not be surprised to see him retire if he wins.

That might be...but they are paying him big money...and that definitely influences front offices! It is a business first!

He might be 38, but his body hasn't taken much wear and tear due the the fact that he has only been in 109 games his 10 year career. And he hasn't started them all.

I think you actually gave the perfect answer. You give Warner a 3 yr deal with the first two years being heavy in pay. Then draft a QB THIS year, someone with the raw talents but needs to learn for a few years, and by the 3rd year of Warner's contract, the rookie has learned how to play at this level, learned from an experienced and good qb and hopefully is ready to take the reigns. That's how you develop a stable QB situation. I'd take Warner in a second!

Bad move by both parties, but mostly would be ill-advised for Warner.
