    Guitar Shopping

Anyone know of a good music store in or somewhat near Ames? I am a student from very far away (Washington DC), and I haven't bought anything other than replacement strings, picks, other accessories. I am looking for a new guitar and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to check out. Rieman has a very limited selection, and I know that there is a Guitar Center near Jordan Creek, but they overcharge on a lot of their stuff.

Professional Music on 86th Street in Clive is the best place to buy a guitar. I go to Guitar Center for accessories, but always buy guitars there.

I guess what are you looking for in your guitar? Are you a serious musician or do you just enjoy playing for fun? Either way I always bought my guitars from a catalog, good deals and sometimes you can get them to waive shipping. This is a link to the catalog I used.

buying a guitar is no different than buying a car.......... DON'T buy it until you TRY it.

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams
