    Smile Thank you Longhorns!!

That was way to close! But sure nice to see all those black and gold leave with their tail between their legs. How many bowl teams have finished the season with a losing record? Probably a few recently. Glad Iowa is one of them.

    Re: Thank you Longhorns!!

Definitely glad about EIU ending the season on a losing season. Although I would have been much more happy with a 65-0 drubbing instead of a close game. Obviously Texas wasn't very motivated for the game and must have been playing half asleep or no doubt it would have been a first class butt whippin

That was a fun game to watch. Iowa clearly showed they deserved to be on the same field with Texas and proved they're much better than their 6-7 record.

Regardless of how the game turned out, Iowa didn't deserve to be in a bowl game. An invite to a bowl game is supposed to be a reward for a successful season, and I'm sorry, 6-6 overall with 2-6 conference record is just not what I consider to be a successful season.

Regardless of whether they deserved to be there or not, it was a good game. That being said, I am SOOOO glad Texas won!!!

    Re: Thank you Longhorns!!

I'm no Iowa fan, but they certainly stood up to the Texas better then we did. In Mac's words, "their size and speed overwhelmed us in the second half." I think we fell apart mentally in that game, but Iowa did a lot better than I thought they would. We were hoping for a 30 point drubbing by the Longhorns of the Hawks. They will consider it a moral victory, and it might just be that. (I can't believe I gave credit to Iowa for anything...)

Yeah Dormeez you are right on Bro! In any league except the little eleven the squawks would NOT even qualify for a bowl game, let alone a bowl game with the prestige of the Alamo Bowl.

eiu now sports a 4 game losing streak and the little eleven is zero wins and four losses thus far in the 2006 bowl season!

    Way to go little 11!!

BTW the BIG 12 is 3 wins and 3 losses so far this bowl season.

Unfortunately, all of the Big 12's losses this bowl season are from the North.

    Re: Thank you Longhorns!!

Wow. the hawks are really complaining about how they were robbed again...so are you NOT supposed to follow the rules if they could affect the game? Take a look at the DMR article: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/app.../61230014/1003

he doesn't think the rules should be followed...if it hurts the hawks

    Re: Thank you Longhorns!!

The only reason the game was as close as it ended up was the fact the Longhorns were ticked they didn't make a BCS bowl and so they were less then motivated to play. I am so glad they got beat though. The arrogance would have been too much to handle that is for sure

    Re: Thank you Longhorns!!

That article is pretty nuts, my brother and I were watching the game and he said something before it was called. He is right it isn't common but thats because most teams dont mess it up. Looks to me like Iowa was trying to be tricky and they got caught, good officiating in my opinion. The out of bounds is a different story but it didn't cost them the game.
