    Re: NCAA Rankings Are Out

Do you know if those rankings reflect Z's win from yesterday?

It does not. It says results through 1/18/2009.

Then Clark should fall in the rankings - didn't he lose on Sunday?

    Re: NCAA Rankings Are Out

Based on Sanderson's recent comments about expecting more intensity do you think he's in the process of implementing changes in practice. If so, are we suffering a temporarily low while adjustments are being made to how we prepare and wrestle?

I don't think we looked that sharp but did notice a couple of the wrestlers looked more aggressive but some of the aggressiveness wasn't that effective.. think it was Clark or Mitch that made a couple attacks that ended up in a take-down for their opponent. Varner on the other hand is being a lot more aggressive. Giving up an escape with under 1 minute, although it didn't make sense, I wonder if it's all about pushing the level of aggressiveness right now so that we put ourselves in the best position to gain extra points in the tourney. Sort of like using the live matches as an extension of practice and not worrying about the outcome as much as getting better.

If so, could we be sacrificing current results in an attempt to transform our aggressiveness in time for nationals? Or just wishful thinking as I don't think we appeared any better yet outside a couple wrestlers (Varner, Reader, Ward, and Big Z).

When I saw them live against Oregon State, I also thought that the upper weights wrestled at a whole different level than the lower weights.

    Re: NCAA Rankings Are Out

I feel better about the team this week after the OU and OSU meets than I did after the National Duels. If we get Burk back into shape, Fanthorpe healthy, and Mueller wrestling to his potential I think we'll be in good shape for Nationals. We'll need 10 guys going and at least 8 All-Americans to have a chance. I'm hoping that Gallick,Varner and Z get to the finals (or Reader of course).

    Re: NCAA Rankings Are Out

like i said on another board, it'll come down to injuries and bonus points. we all know metcalf is on another level this year, so he will get his. we have to hope that varner can keep up, though he doesnt traditionally blow people out he has proven that he can at times.
