    Slumdog Millionaire

Good Flick. I highly recommend it. It's just a good story about a boy who grew up in the slums of India.

    Re: Slumdog Millionaire

I am frustrated that it didn't come to Ames sooner. I kept hearing from all of these people how great it was and frustrated I couldn't see it.... That said, I'm seeing it tonight for sure!

    Re: Slumdog Millionaire

I saw it last night... I am not easily impressed by movies, but this might be one of the best movies I have ever seen.

Not really a movie you would want to watch twice though.

The movie doesn't blow you away like say a Dark Knight. It's just a good story that's well done. Don't go in thinking you are going to see the best movie you've ever seen, it's just a well done movie, with good character and a good story.

Edit: Well maybe some people will think it's the best they've ever seen.

Also, I've never seen crowds stay through the end credits. Was pretty impressed that not one person got up to leave during the end credits.

    Re: Slumdog Millionaire

Yeah, I was in a packed theater and not one person got up during the music video at the end... I think there was a psychological component though, because I didn't want to sit through it, but didn't want to be the only one getting up.

I hadn't even heard of the movie until yesterday. A girl asked me to go and I didn't feel like walking downtown so I gave it a shot. The last movie I saw was Gran Torino and I thought it really sucked.

I am guessing you aren't really a movie guy then?

    Awesome movie.

In fact, this might be the first year in a long time I agree with the Oscar winner.

Dark Knight never came close to blowing me away. i thought it was completely overrated. Enjoyed it...that's it. Ledger was great.

I'd have to say the movie blew me away much more so than Dark Knight. I loved Dark Knight but there is very little realism in that movie. It was like a fantasy land that I could escape to for a couple of hours...

In Slumdog, while it's likely impossible 1 person would go through everything the main character, that's the story of thousands if not millions of people. I've seen the documentary Born Into Brothels that deals with children of prostitutes in India. From seeing the documentary and then seeing Slumdog, I'd have to say that Slumdog captures the essence of what the slums are all about...

It's a real powerful and deep movie. I lowered expectations because I usually fall victim of seeing the really hyped movie to only be dissapointed.

I have to say it's the best movie I've seen in a while and I liked it a lot!

I have a couple buddies who are total movie buffs and they both said that The Wrester is better than Slumdog Millionaire. Anyone here seen The Wrestler?

I haven't seen the Wrestler, but I've heard it's very good as well.... Ames just doesn't always get the best movies in town... They can put out Notorious the day it comes out, but we have to wait months for a best-picture nomination?
