    Different between win/loss: Lucca

If Lucca would have had an average day, the Clones would have won. I guess he kept the streak alive?

he is HOT or he is COLD, no average with him. Also he didn't have many open shots, partly due to him and partly due to the offense of standing around.

    Re: Different between win/loss: Lucca

I'm sorry, we're a better team with Boozer on the floor in place of Staiger. Our comeback in the second half came with Lucca on the bench. Boozer plays physical, gets rebounds, gives the team energy by flying all over the court - all the thing Lucca does not. He runs around on the court like he's 50 years old.

We got very little from DG, Peterson, and Lucca. I refuse to put a lot of blame on Lucca for this one. Sure, he didn't play well but he wasn't alone.

I agree, you can't blame just one guy for this loss. If Petey could guard Collins, if DG didn't have as many turnovers, if if if...

    Re: Different between win/loss: Lucca

Not a whole lot of open looks at all for Lucca. KU is not a team that he will generally get a lot of points with since they don't collapse as much down low. Big reason for CB going for 42. Too many other things that didn't go well to pin this on Lucca.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Lucca looked like he was gimping a little bit and his leg was a tad tender. They had him stifled most of the game.

It was both Lucca and DG. We needed better days out of both.

I agree. BTW, is the team coached to give shot-fakes??? Morningstar was up on Lucca so tight, all he would have had to do was give a few shot-fakes and Morningstar would have been up in the air, and Lucca could have driven right by for a shorter jump shot...

The only people you can't blame are Brackins and Vanderbeken. Everyone else needed to step up and didn't.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but I still can't figure out why Bryan starts every game. He's really not much of an offensive threat. In my opinion, we don't need more people who are outside threats. I think we are really missing someone who is a threat to drive, like Stinson was.

Maybe because he has heart. Really, outside of Petersen and Brackins, who else on our team looks desperate to win?

I agree that Petersen showed heart. I hate to see people ripping on him because he always plays hard and rebounds very well for his size. He would be fine if he was asked to do what he can do.

    Re: Different between win/loss: Lucca

The problem with Lucca today was that he was forcing up shots.. as if it was his duty to shoot a 3 if the ball came to him. He's had some awesome nights, but he's gotta plant his feet and square up if he wants to be in any way consistent. The fact that he can occasionally hit those hard 3's is nice, but nobody will be that consistent out there if they're forcing it with someone in their face.

What he needs to learn from today, is to take advantage of people noticing him. Do a fake, take a step to the left or right.. something.

The other problem is that, when Lucca get's passed the ball, nobody drives. Somebody is going to run out to guard him, because God forbid if he's open. That'll most likely leave space in the middle where somebody needs to drive, so that Lucca can shot-fake, and then toss the ball inside.

Yes, Lucca was stone cold today and sometimes that happens, but certainly a lot better decisions could have been made in terms of shot choice. (Also, Lucca wasn't exactly alone in this.. although it was about half and half with other people either being ice cold and their shots looking horrific -- Hamilton -- or taking inappropriate 3's or otherwise heavily contested jump shots. )
