    New Ownership for Cubs

Well Cubs fans with the new ownership announced for the Cubs will they make the right moves so we can finally break the small 100 year break between world series Championships?

It's gonna be nice having the Twins AAA team in Des Moines after the I-cubs move to Omaha.

That will never happen - who is the Twins AAA team now?

    Re: New Ownership for Cubs

The big Cubs are contracted to have the AAA affiliate in Des Moines through the end of 2012. After that, I'm betting they get moved to Omaha. Hell, it could even happen before that if this dude wants to go ahead and pay to break the contract.

The also have a contract with Principal Park until 2020 (or something like that).

    Re: New Ownership for Cubs

Why would they move to Omaha? The only connection I see is that the new owners were from Omaha origionally but that ships sailed long ago.

Besides they sell out in Des Moines while Omaha has trouble getting fans.

There are other connections but I don't recall them exactly. I believe someone in the Icubs front office is connected to the new owner.

Plus, DM supported the Oaks when they were with the As, long before it was a cubs town. They would sell out anyone.

    Re: New Ownership for Cubs

Another reason they're not moving to Omaha, is community support.

Omaha has been the only city for the Royals AAA franchise.
    Omaha Royals Baseball - 349,376 (2008)
In 2007, the Iowa Cubs set a new franchise record with 576,310 people passing through the gates at Principal Park.
Jun 16, 2008 ... Despite being the smallest market in all of AAA baseball, the I-Cubs currently rank fourth in the Pacific Coast League in attendance with an average of 7,750 fans per game in Principal Park.
